I think you should listen to One More Light, even just out of respect to Chester, as it was his last album.

I really like Living Things although I totally get where you're coming from. Its theme is about breaking a cycle of abuse - one way or another. Although I agree that there maybe could be more of a catharsis - I really really like Powerless though, just wished for more of a bang beforehand.
I think you will enjoy Hunting Party a lot more though, it's pretty heavy! And don't skip to the new one as I think One More Light is thematically a beautiful tragic final to Chester's legacy. It's very pop sounding but an important listen to close this chapter of LP before diving into a new era. Pretty sure you will love From Zero's sound!
What album I also can recommend (especially after One More Light) is Mike Shinoda's solo record "Post Traumatic" which is an emotionally hard hitting look into his thoughts after Chester's passing. It really helped me back in the day to process some of my own feelings.
