You are not alone -- I know it's not like having Paula beside you, but we're in this together and from where I sit, your natural reactions are just right! (when I got my broadcast license in college, on my first solo test broadcast I turned on the mic and realized I literally had nothing to say. That wasn't good.) Your solo DS9 reactions thus far are more than enough - just be you.

Nope if you rewatch, its explained 16min in that the killer walked in at same time, then the killer left 13min later with ibudan dead. door opened twice before starfleet starting investiagting

The thing that irks me about this episode- they set up a locked room murder mystery and never explain the locked room. "He murdered his clone!" Ok, great. How did he get out of the holosuite? They specifically said door didn't open other than to let the victim in (presumably with the murderer) and then again when the body was found, and no one transported in or out. It wasn't just that Odo may have had motive, it was also that he was the only one who could get out without opening the door. Oops, guess they forgot that part :P

"Killing your own clone is still murder." Makes Riker and Pulaski look up in horror.

Quark rents those holosuites by the hour and he’s pretty clear that they’re available for more than massages. This distinguishes the “darker and grittier” DS9 from TNG, where the holodeck is only used to pretend to be Sherlock Holmes or Dixon Hill. Well, unless you’re Barclay.

Kat is not a man alone. He is a man with lots of people watching him!!

The thing that everyone misses is we have an African-American actor in a fictional scenario where he's protecting someone else from a lynching. It certainly struck me the first time I even saw the episode. I have no idea why the original broadcast order had this episode as the third episode. It's certainly weaker than "Past Prologue" (which you saw last week). The Scooby-Doo goofy ending of "Man Alone" does not help. I think the change in order hurt Bashir's character more than anyone else's. In the original order, you had him being a putz in the third episode, and he gets a little redemption thanks to Garak in the fourth. It's so fun going back to see the "baby pictures" of these characters. Tony Award-winning actor Rene Auberjonois (RIP) clearly hasn't gotten Odo's voice down quite yet (in this episode he keeps going back-and-forth between his own speaking voice and Odo's more growly voice). Plus, Odo's make-up is still ROUGH (thankfully it improves). And ROM! I forgot how different Rom was in these early appearances. Different voice. Different way of walking. Practically a different character! (I count Rom and Nog as among my faves.) No spoilers, but how it all ends and where all the characters end up is going to absolutely stun you. And yet at the end you're going to think it all makes complete sense that everyone landed where they land.
