I enjoy this episode more every time I watch it. First half is decent, but the second half is up there with the best written stuff in the history of the whole show I think. I love the bits with Rimmer and Lister in the cockpit, but especially when Cat is laying into Rimmer for being dead and just oversteps the mark - Lister's very genuine "back the smeg off, ok?" to Cat is my favourite line in the episode.

I'm still hoping there'll be more episodes, but if this is where Red Dwarf ends, it's a good place to end it, back where it started. My favourite scene is the moonlight scene between Lister and Rimmer and fun fact - that was the very first scene they filmed!

Getting to relive my own journey with the Boys from the Dwarf through your fresh eyes was an extraordinary gift and I would not have missed this for the world. I know there's still lots of behind the scenes stuff, but knowing that this is likely where the journey officially ends really hits a poignant note for me (admittedly, I may be a little extra emotionally raw due to the state of ~waves generally~ everything). I'm glad to have been here with you from beginning to the (current) end of Red Dwarf and I'll be holding out hope that the Boys may have at least one more in them for us. And if they don't...well, we'll always have fun, fun, fun as we ride off in Starbug into the sun, sun sun. Me and Mr. Flibble will be here, smoking kippers till you come around for breakfast. ~ridiculous, hand-wavy, way too long salute~ Kat. Paula. It's been an honour.

I really wish that the cat race had been recurring antagonists in the whole series; Rodon is a fantastic villain (Ray Fearon is a classically trained actor, and it shows), and the 30 year wait to have the religion of Cloister fleshed out more is finally paid off, mostly. Spinoff, Naylor? Rimmer's holoevolution has been great to watch over the years and 'Super Ace' is just chef's kiss writing. The visual gags are on the same level; that cat flap entrance will never get old. Gripes? Cat being Rodon's brother feels like a throwaway add on (major Worf/Kurn vibes if they had stuck the writing), the desert FX looked S7 bad and the sun/moon conversation just felt like it was pandering to an American audience. So is this it? The final episode? I hope not. There's still life in the old Dwarf yet. ❤️
