Problem is I think they enjoy working in front of a live audience - the energy drop in VII and BtE feels palpable - which wouldn't be possible with animation. Plus it'd be super expensive. I can imagine a Radio 4 version working. I wouldn't be at all surprised if Rob (& Andrew Marshall)'s planned prequel ends up on Radio 4 either.

2024-11-01 01:02:15 +0000 UTCThis had a bit of a mixed reception from fans but I love it, a really enjoyable low key episode with lots of funny dialogue. Although it does begin the XI/XII trend of episodes ending very abruptly. Doug's already ruled out a "last ever" episode, saying it'll just end when it ends. That said, I can't see it carrying on more than a couple more specials now. Robert is nearly 70 and struggled with the costume and mask these days. My hope is that Doug decides to do a radio version if further TV episodes aren't possible - since getting into Big Finish stuff I've grown a real love for audio drama and comedy.

2024-10-31 23:26:45 +0000 UTCThis is a very entertaining episode, although the ending always seems a little abrupt. But some great dialogue throughout, and the basic idea is very clever (love the callback to series 4 ep Justice too)

2024-10-31 10:29:00 +0000 UTC- Naylor nailed it once again with the writing; the dialogue is S-tier and the direction lets it shine. - Lister and desecrating ashes, name a more iconic duo, other than Lister and Rimmer bunk scenes. - Justiceworld callback! - yeah, at some point they'll have to stop making episodes but hey, Patrick Stewart got to creak around three seasons of a new Trek show, so why not the Old Boys from the Dwarf? Oh and Paula - get a hankie. Two RD reactions in a row and you're spluttering all over your threads. Lister's influence is getting too much! π

2024-10-30 22:04:27 +0000 UTCMan, I haven't seen these episodes a lot, but that was quite an abrupt ending... show felt like it was only in act 2 and the escape being a farce of beneficial unkindness woulda been act 3, but no. I wonder if that was the plan, but the script ran long and they already had the extra cast booked?

They don't always get the chance to make episodes whenever they want so it'll be left open so if everything comes into place, then it's still a possibility Our cast are all alive and well and final "conclusion" type episodes are always shite, so whenever the stars align.. there's the possibility of more RD I'm hoping they can get back to making more full seasons. 11 & 12 were filmed back to back and that seemed to work really well (as long as the scripts are there and good) If you remember in Future Echos; Lister reaches the age 171 anyway.. so we have a long way to go! :P
