2025-02-22 20:40:12 +0000 UTCI won't pretend to be impartial when it comes to Mac McDonald; he's a sweetheart, and I genuinely do love him in Red Dwarf. That said, I completely understand not seeing him working in this. I blame the production - direction, editing, what have you. Series VIII suffers from being... unfinished, in a lot of ways. And yes, a lot of it makes absolutely no sense. The Grim Reaper thing just annoys me; I understand the symbolism, but it just does not fit into what has until that point been a relatively realism-based SF comedy show. I like the original ending, and I really wish they would have kept it. That said, I am super excited that you're now close to covering my favorite (well, second favorite) series! :D

2024-07-31 00:58:46 +0000 UTCI do think both endings are good, but clearly the more complete one they initially shot is better. I think other ending does reflect better on the uncertainty that this show would ever come back. The BBC can be cruel to their science fiction shows.
