Little Lorna - Altar Girl

The first of a few drawings of Little Lorna for one of my top level supporters! This will be another diary entry of Little Lorna as she is tells us her experience as Alter girl for her local parish for Father McCreedy.

I don't think I ever mentioned this before but I am a very devout Christian and I'm sort of excited to do this diary entry for Little Lorna!

I believe that in the modern church there should be much more openess about our sexuality. We (men AND women) are VERY sexual beings and that should be explored!

Many of of strange Christian and Catholic practices are carry overs from ancient roman traditions and the concept of the caste priest comes from the Vestal virgin. The ancient romans held virginity in extremely high regard and the Vestal virgin was one of the highest and most holy people in the temple. They were so holy that if you were sentenced to death, you can commute your sentence just by meeting with a Vestal Virgin (not sex... just meeting with one!). If a Vestal Virgin loses her virginity the sentence for her was equally as harsh. She would be sentenced to death by being buried alive!

When Constantine converted the empire from Polytheism to Christianity (Monotheism), many of the ancient roman practices including that of the Vestal Virgin was carried over. Since he believed that only men can serve in the church, all of them needed to be virgins.

For those of you who do not read the Bible... just to let you know there is no mention ever that you must be a virgin to serve in the church.
