Did you know? Ludwig van Beethoven was probably a black man. Yes, the guy who wrote what the EU would adopt as its formal anthem as late as the 20th century. As far as we today can know, which is pretty much limited to two contemporary sources, one charcoal sketch and one offhand description in a letter between two unrelated parties, he would "probably" be black. There's no evidence to suggest otherwise. Only 400 years of history written by very racist people with a a vested interest in proving that white people did everything important ever. A narrative telling everybody in the world over and over that somebody that huge, a writer of symphonies that get played even today, would be "assumed" to be white. There's been movies made about him, for Christ's sake! How would they ever depict him if not ivory white? So yeah, we gotta talk about our racism.
