Just realised that the Vulcan isolationists idea was revisited in Enterprise.

Troy Convers

If the Vulcan had been a proper security operative then wouldn't she have recognised Picard? He is the captain of the federation flag ship.

Stephen Wray

Yes! EC Henry did that vid: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GIRRDO7_SZI&t=1s

Beautifully said. The new CBS stuff might have characters coming back from older shows, flashy special effects and more convoluted plots, but it is NOT the essence of Star Trek no matter how they try to market it.

Jay S

But Picard Season 3 also seems based heavily on DS9 and may be difficult to follow if you haven’t seen DS9.

Pranav Gulukota

Worf I mean

Henry Fuller

I don't think gets talked down to by a superior again until DS9 or in First Contact.

Henry Fuller

Can you imagine paramount wanted the actor who played Bashir to play Sisko. He is a good acyor but was too young to play Sisko. I Couldn't imagine the series with out Avery Brooks.

Henry Fuller

I remember when this first aired on WPIX 11. The conclusion to this 2 parter felt like such a long wait. It was soooo good. I had been watching the show with my sister through season 6. Then she graduated. And started college. I started 9th grade that fall unfortunatly I graduated in 97 so I missed most of season 6 and 7 of DS9 when I started college so I had to catch up when they were repeated on late night tv.

Henry Fuller

The actress who was sitting in Data's chair most of this 2 parter played Sondra the oldest daughter on the Cosby Show.

Henry Fuller

It was never good to be Guy. :-)

Bruce Bromley

That Worf and Data scene is the perfect encapsulation of the whole VIBE of Star Trek... at least what it USED to be. Professionals, tackling issues professionally and without over the top melodrama. And then the New Era of Star Trek hits and throws all that out the frakking window. Even in the latest stuff to come out and it's more jarring, laziest attempt at drama and attempting to emotionally manipulate the audience into tuning in episode to episode. It's so ham-fisted and not at all in line with WHY I fell in love with this franchise. So yeah, I hate the heck out of the new series, cause none of them are anything to do with what I love about these shows. (I'm talking about the "You've killed us all" line and "drama" between certain characters in the most recent Trek show, FYI)

Nolan

A bit of side trivia since y'all commented on the "redshirt" trope: some fan, I unfortunately don't recall the name, actually tallied up all the starfleet deaths in the original series and found that, per capita, being a redshirt was actually the safest color. It only seems that redshirts get killed more often because a much larger number of them appear on screen than gold or blue. (Being an unnamed extra, of course, is a lethal position regardless of shirt color.)

Keith Goodnight

I actually can think of 2 upcoming episodes I really dislike. But yeah, I know as well as everyone else which one.

Joe Concepts

Just to add my agreement, can't wait for that episode.

TheHimble

I want to be among the first to suggest you guys react to Picard, season 3 which is shaping up as a very deserved postscript and loving tribute to the Next Generation crew.

Mark Chrisco

I've always loved that shirt pull.

Mike

If memory serves, once DS9 begin, TNG did get a bit grittier a few times in their last season. I thought that Kingon may have been Kevin Peter Hall, who was over 7 feet tall and had been on TNG before. Sadly he had passed away about a year before this aired.

Bruce Bromley

I really like to think that Data understands Picard perfectly and that on some level HE is joking, too.

Joe Concepts

did you guys catch the name of the artifact, the Stone of Gol? In other words, a gallstone haha

Mike

Worf being reprimanded is one of my favourite scenes of the whole series. Two professionals resolving a conflict. Data emulating Picard's shirt pull at the end is *Chef's kiss*.
