I would love to watch you react to the whole show again, but in a watch along format.

About the scene where Graham shares his fear about his cancer returning and the Doctor not knowing how to respond, Chris Chibnall revealed in the latest Doctor Who Magazine that he had cancer when he was 22. Here’s what Chibnall said… I think that little moment in Can You Hear Me? [2020] where Graham is saying about his fear of his cancer having returned, and the Doctor's like, “I don't know how to handle this" - I think it's really important. The Doctor's reaction in that scene. I've had that numerous times. People do behave with you like that in that situation. And when anyone says, "Oh, I don't think she'd behave like that," I go, "People respond in really weird ways to those conversations.” Understandably, people are like, "I don't know what to do with this." There's another version of the scene where the Doctor's saying, “It's okay, Graham, it's all right, I'm here for you." But actually the Doctor has those moments too. The Doctor can be contradictory. Should be! I love that.

Patiently waiting for the next episode ..... ,🤯

I never really got Turlough, even after the Doctor found out about him... but maybe thats just me

How could I have forgotten Nardole (head hanging in shame)

Mark Ten

I feel like someone should just squeeze Enlightenment into the line up of Classic Who reacts. This was such a little Easter egg episode. And this whole thread reminds me that Turlough was a bit short changed in the end.

Commenting as I watch the start of the video and you haven't even got to the episode yet: if you do want to go back and start over at the beginning, do it thoroughly and make it "An Unearthly Child." Just sayin'.

Stay at peace Katrina ♥️ Thanks both of you for sharing your reaction to this one 👍🏼👍🏼🤗🤗

Could have done worse.

We got Nardole

First time I saw this episode I was a little taken aback by the Doctor's response to Graham and I know there was a lot of criticism in the fandom. But you are absolutely right, the Doctor is an alien and her responses and attitudes wont always mesh with human expectations. I think Peter Capaldi's Doctor was more obvious about the alien nature of the Doctor, but I like the more subtle moment's in Jodie's characterization.

Mark Ten

I wish new Who for once would give the Doctor an alien companion or one from the future or the past. Except for Captain Jack new Who hasnt done that although it was quite common in Classic. There was a reference here to other immortals from Classic Who - The (Celestial) Toymaker who was one of the Doctor's most powerful enemies and the Guardians (the universal forces of good & evil).

Been waiting for this episode! Yaz;s backstory in this episode explains so much and gives context to what we know already. Her family's surprise when she brings home friends, her mothers constant questions, her crying after being put in the Kassavin dimension in Spyfall, saying it felt like she was alone, that she thought she was dead. Plus, how bad her bullying got and what it almost drove her to. As for the Graham scene I think it's very interesting. As an autistic person I relate to not having or knowing what to say. Especially in those situations. With the Doctor being an alien and given what she's recently gone through it's understandable she wouldn't know how to approach something like that, on top of her social awkwardness. I do appreciate that she makes it clear that she cares though, and still listened to him. She may not have the words now but will later and that's ok. Knowing that someone hears you, someone listens, that's what matters. That's why the episode title is what it is.
