I've recently seen this interview with Christopher Eccleston where he says that the Empty Child was his favourite script of his time on the show. https://youtu.be/BWoAvcEA3sg

That would be awesome! <3

You and I will have to keep in touch, so so when I move to England next year, I can send you some really cool stuff from time to time. 😁

Amy Chlebus

Oh, and Moffat said: 'He's (the Doctor) the man who understands the universe and she's (Bill) the woman who *feels* it'. <3 <3

Nicole Mazza

Same, Amy. :)

I ABSOLUTELY ADORE Rachel Talalay! She's sort of friends with one of my friends, Alan, who used to run the local Doctor Who con here in Atlanta (sadly now defunct) and years ago, she happened to be at a small, local comic convention because she was also in town directing (I think either 'Doom Patrol' or 'Sabrina' OR BOTH! She really gets around!) and she ran into Alan. They chatted a bit about the fact that Jodie's first episode was going to be on that night and she wasn't sure if her hotel room carried BBC America. So, Alan invited her over to his house and so a few of my friends all watched Jodie's first episode with her! I was so sad to have missed it myself (I was home sick), but thought that it was so awesome she just hung out with my friends and watched the show and even stayed for dinner and chatted with them until late in the night! <3

I loved River and didn't hate Clara though I really preferred her with Capaldi. Rose? Ugh I'm still not a fan. Mainly because I dislike Doctor/companion romance. That's why my fave companions are Donna, Amy, Bill, Rory.

Alisa Loudner

You say that, but we did have the Clara Show, guest starring the Doctor for far, far too long. Still, yes, all the show runners have had their own take on things. And that's good overall.

Bill

Its a little black and white though right? Smith's first season is probably the strongest season long arc. While his tenure on the whole is convoluted its also full of incredible twists and turns and callbacks to twists and turns. Meanwhile Capaldi actually has a very defined more character-based arc. He loses Smith's humanity, goes through a crisis of faith, has a mid-life crisis and then finally realises his true compassion again. I think the main difference is that RTD cared more about companions and Moffat cared more about the Doctor. But one also has to follow the other! Moffat has to try new territory, the Daleks, Cyberman, even the Master have all been done so Moffat HAS to subvert them more and more.

George Baxter

100% Paula!! Totally agree on Moffat. Episode writer? Fantastic! Showrunner... meh.

Bill

Personally for me, I love all of Moffatt's stories, and I love him as showrunner.. I'd rather have him than the one they're getting ready to watch. That's only my opinion.

Amy Chlebus

Haha I'm definitely one of the people who preferred Clara to River. Although I did really like her in Husbands. ...So maybe I'm just a general Capaldi-era stan more than anything else.

Trav

Its great to see Paula and Kat react to Moffat talking about the show. The Man can seem like a cruel puppet master but when you see him discussing the reasons for his choices and hear the passion its hard to argue. The sheer quantity of Doctor Who stories he wrote is impressive. But then there's the quality... I also think its interesting to hear some of the BTS drama that led to major stories. Moffat didnt always get to choose. people struggle with the War Doctor in the 50th but he wanted Eccleston!! At one stage Moffat had to write a script where no Doctors would appear and Clara was going on a tour of his life because neither Matt Smith nor David Tennant were contracted for the 50th! And the reason Clara stayed on in Season 9 was because Jenna and Peter genuinely wanted to stick together. Overcoming those challenges whilst the budget kept getting reduced is not an easy task. We'll see how Chibnall handles it.. but there's a reason each of his seasons are 2 episodes shorter and he took a long break between.
