2021-12-24 19:43:59 +0000 UTCThis is a contender for the best of the Xmas specials. It is pretty faultless Xmas stuff - funny, daft, moving, fast-paced with wise-cracking repartee. Also, proof if it is needed that Peter Capaldi and Alex Kingston are like a sci-fi Cary Grant and Rosalind Russell in His Girl Friday. Am I overdoing the praise? I don't think so. And as for Nardole.. Greg Davies as Hydroflax was great casting too. Anyone here watch Taskmaster? If not, you should.

Because to me, what this means, is that the tragedy of Forest of the Dead is undercut. It seems to make that story less genuine. Don’t get me wrong, I adore both the episodes still, and I adore the final scene. I feel like moffat, as a long term storyteller, has trouble letting any storyline have lasting consequences. Anyway, I loved the reaction, and am excited to see the next one!
