Mirror, Mirror, Gallifrey Gals Get Warped! Original Series!

While the gals take short break in-between season 4 and 5 of Star Trek: TNG, they wanted to make sure they could give you a little TOS treat! Has Captain Kirk ended up in an alternate universe?? Evil Spock has a beard?! What else is in store?!

Love mirror universe eps!

Ashley

I also enjoy the Enterprise mirror universe episodes which were done at the very end of the last season (4) and it ties in directly with a TOS plotline as well.

Chris Lane- Venturi 3D

Paula might be interested to know that the final scene in this episode was used in the DS9 30th anniversary episode with Sisko swapped out for Marlena.

Dan Crucy

It was actually an alien looking skull. McCoy had handled it earlier in the episode. He placed it on the shelf where Uhura later grabbed it from when she handed it off to Kirk. But it did seem pretty brittle.

Henchman Twenty1

Seen this episode a hundred times and the only thing that mars it is mirror Spock being near death after being hit on the head with a vase. Would have been more realistic had he hit his head on a table on the way down.

Mark Chrisco

I absolute favorite variation on this theme is the TNG book "Dark Mirror" by Diane Duane. Its not considered canon, but its depiction of this dark universe is by far the most interesting. Shatner did his version in a couple of books, but it was rather wacky.

BlackOpsElf

Super lame their ship is called "Spirk" and not "Kock".

JXTN

"Shipping" exists mainly BECAUSE of Trek. It was called "Slash" fiction back then cause of the "K/S". And, yes, i see someone already mentioned the salute as being from Roman times.

Sal Sanchez

There is also an episode of the mirror universe in Star Trek Enterprise

Hok'Tar

I think the hand salute is more of a reference to Roman times, than WWII Germany

Pendrew

As far as whether people ship Kirk and Spock, let me put it to you this way, You know the term slash fiction? It was invented by Trek fans that wrote erotic/romantic stories about the two in fanzines circa the late 60s/early 70s. It more or less was the first male/male ship by fans in modern popular culture, and the content inspired by is still going after 50 years.

LiveStudioAudience

What a fun watch. So glad the gals are really taken to the TOS characters. Makes for a much better experience should they decide to watch the TOS movies first after TNG finishes.

Pickupthepieces76

Not only does it come back ih DS9, it also comes back in Enterprise.

xabdiben

I love, so much, that while Kirk and his bunch spend an entire episode navigating their circumstances, it takes Spock all of five minutes to figure out what was happening and shut that shit down.

D. J. Toland

Star Trek Discovery deals ALOT with the Mirror Universe also. Nuff said..no spoilers. :)

Nicholas Walsh

Kirk meant well, but........ [See DS9]

Henchman Twenty1

"Season 10"? We wish! Imagine if..... What I really like and appreciate about this episode "Mirror, Mirror" is all the details they put into it both big and small. They did put a lot of thought and work into it. It could have just been a simple 'make everyone act bad' deal but they really pulled out the stops. Even the Captain's chair was different, higher in the back. Painfully obvious stunt double for Spock in the sickbay fight scene. His hair changes when you can't see his face clearly and I think the other guy is a bit shorter in stature, but still a cool fight though. If the Gals ever get to Star Trek: Enterprise there's a two-parter in season 4 that they'll probably like. Long live the Empire!

Henchman Twenty1

They _did_ help the "evil" Marlena indirectly. In giving "evil" Spock the idea to kill "evil" Kirk and become Captain – plus the information about the device in Captain's room. Marlena would become the new Captains wife.

Patrick Armbruster

So, pretty much every time someone puts on a goatee to represent an evil twin, they are referencing this episode.

Timothy Hennon

My second favorite Episode of all of Star Trekl. Yay!

Red Claw

Yay! This is the darkest timeline.
