Comments

The Doctor has travelled with several Time Lords. Some of those episodes are really good, worth checking out!

Mr Kitty

I think that’s different when traveling with a fellow Time Lord/Lady. If you wanted to get deep about it, they would have had a shared cultural and physiological understanding of their effective immortality/longevity. Whereas a human who’s had it thrust upon them is a different matter. Also, it helps if the actors are actually married to one another 😀 (or maybe not, considering that marriage didn’t last very long).

Lloyd B

One of the weaker episodes of series 9, but I still like it, especially for the existential discussions between the Doctor and “Lady Me”. In fact, I feel they didn’t need the alien fire breathing lion, and could have written the story without him. However, I tend to think he’s there more for the younger kids, who may have been a bit disappointed with an episode solely consisting of philosophical discussions about the consequences of immortality.

Lloyd B

She just never did much for me, honestly. I don't know why. 🤷‍♀️

Install the Doctor Who soundboard on your phone. Play the TARDIS sound in a crowd. See who freaks out.

Bill

"Oh my god, it's so fscking annoying." Big mood right there, Katrina. XD

Bill

I like the themes in this episode but yeah there's a lack of momentum and stakes. Its weird how 1 dimensional the storytelling becomes in series 9; this is literally all 'A' plot with no 'C' or even 'B' plot! And I agree that there is wiggle room for dealing with immortals that the show isnt interested in exploring here.

George Baxter

This is one of the weaker episodes of S9 to me, but I did like it more on rewatch, so that was good. 🤷‍♀ Oh, and fun fact, I learned recently that Leandro -- the lion guy -- was played by Ariyon Bakare! I didn't recognize him under all the make-up! Anyway, I also like him in 'Good Omens' as the demon Ligur (with the frog on his head), in 'Carnival Row' as Darius (the werewolf-guy), and as Lord Boreal in 'His Dark Materials', the baddie with the snake as a daemon. HE'S SOOO GOOD (though not as good in this story, imo).

Nicole Mazza

And so begins the time me not liking Ashildr/Me.

Amy Chlebus

And Susan is a timelord. I don't care what anyone else says.

Bob Hughes

But the Fourth Doctor travelled with an immortal for several seasons!

Bob Hughes

I freakin loved Maisie Williams in this episode.

SolarPhantom74

Tenant didnt want to travel with Capt Jack after he became imortal!

Mark Ten

"... as we watch more Who." "Who?" "The dead-beat dad."

Ka Man Chan

I quite liked this episode. I love character-driven stories like this. Sam Swift was played by standup comedian and massive Whovian (and Strictly Come Dancing fan hilariously enough) Rufus Hound. He also has done some Big Finish audios, playing the Meddling Monk. (I think my favorite story he's in is the Eighth Doctor episode "The Side of the Angels" from the "Doom Coalition" series.)

Thundercats are on the loose / Thundercats are loose Feel the magic, hear the roar / Thundercats are loose

Firefly24601

Not a big fan of this episode but I did enjoy the continuation of Ashildr's story line. Let's see what the ladies think .....
