Avatar Aang, Gallifrey Gals Get Bendy! S3Ep21

I think my favorite part of this whole entire series is the tiny scene when Azula has been defeated. We have wished and predicted and talked it up largely every single scene she has been in: that she needs to be be humiliated, humbled, shown the error of her ways. And now it happens, just the way we all ideally hoped it would, and it's so fucking sad and horrible and not satisfying or cathartic at all. It's maybe the most real that the show ever gets, and it's a show that gets more real more times than anybody is comfortable with. Just showing the villain for an absolutely unhealthy, unstable mess who needs to be locked up for the safety of society but who also needs help. Ditto Ozai, but then, that's a much longer road to hoe. Turning off his bending ability could be compared to the punishments of old Constantinople, where they liked to sear the eyes and cut the hands and tongues of criminals and pride themselves on not killing anyone. If you are now struggling with the implications of mutilation and dismemberment as a form of justice and wondering how many units of justice better than just killing a dude that is, you are a step ahead of Aang. The secret is to recognize in either case you are putting yourself in charge of the other person's life, body, health, physical ableness and general wellbeing. This is way above Aang's paygrade at the moment when he decides to cut Ozai in a permanent way, which is a wonderful way to end the hundred years war in one stroke without doing a murder, but in principle, it's still enforcing your will on another person and robbing them of a certain amount of agency. Aang feels bad about that, and he would have felt as bad if the White Lotus Order's Court of International Criminal Law had stepped up and imprisoned Ozai for his crimes against humanity, because no matter how official the act, it still results in robbing a man of his freedom. It's just a queston of degrees.

Even though y'all filmed this years ago, thanks for spending my birthday with me as I ran through the last half of season 3 and experience the amazing finale. And I do wish the show had ended right before the kiss. I'm fine with them hinting that maybe they'd end up together, but I didn't need that as the actual final moment of the show.

One of my favorite things about Azula vs Zuko and Katara is that Katara doesn’t actually get involved until Azula cheats by attacking Katara who is at that time a spectator. If Azula had thrown her lightning at Zuko he would have channeled it back at her and won the fight which Azula at least sort of understood since she did decide to try to hamper him by throwing her lightning at Katara instead, it’s also possible she did that in order to try and faze the then unflappable Zuko but either way it was a desperate ploy that goes against the honor of the Agni Kai. So she lost the Agni Kai to Zuko and then was ultimately taken down by Katara allowing both of them to have their own personally important victories against Azula.

I've loved coming on this journey with you both, and I absolutely adore Gravity Falls! This is going to be fun. :)

i dont think you necessarily have to read the books since Nickelodean recently created Avatar Studios. So far they have an animated movie and two animated shows they are working on, and they could most definitely animate the books and continue Aang's journey since they plan on expanding the Avatar Universe

there's 6 of those anthologies that take place after the series, + a bunch of standalones

I feel like everyone feels satisfied the first time you watch Azula break down, but the more you rewatch the show, the more tragic it gets. I also never really got the Zutara thing personally. Sure, they share some moments and there's the whole opposites attract thing, but I never really felt like the show was pushing them together at all. It was pretty clear from the beginning that Katara and Aang was endgame. Really excited for Gravity Falls, though. Another one of the best animated shows in my opinion.
