We may have already found the episode this season that we just want to forget... An episode that even the Rick and Morty creators say they can't believe they were allowed to make it.

Honestly my enjoyment of this episode can change on any given day from putting it in the running for weakest of the season to feeling it might be one of the better ones this season. At the very least my opinion of it isn't middling.

Fascinating, I'm an actor as well, and a singer, and also deaf in my left ear. :) I lost the hearing because of meniere's disease, and it definitely affected some things but it's just an adjustment and yes, you definitely can still do everything with a couple extra steps :)

Big agree with your reactions. This wasn't just an episode I didn't like, I felt it was straight up bad. The parts you pointed out about sexualizing Morty and Summer are awful, and I hated the bit with the soldier who had his wife's underwear on. It felt like kink shaming and the payoff at the end was just more shaming. Definitely a big low point for this show, and honestly a low point for all of Harmon's shows.

Your apprehension right at the start is amazing. This is the first episode that has made me go "Am I over this show?" and then to see you guys like that just off the title has me in a giggle fit. Ok, time to hit play again.

I missed the only decent joke when I first watched the episode because I had tuned out so much by then. Some morbid interest in how this train wreck actually happened but suspect the answer would be disappointing. Have definitely stricken this episode from any future rewatch lists.

It does seem like an older script that may have been dusted off. I though that as the Jerry/Beth relationship seemed more like older episodes.

The only "layer" I se to this episode is that I think they are putting to rest, the rumors that Summer is not Jerrys daughter, because the giant baby is red headed, which it would not be if Morty did not have a dormant ginger gene.
But that is about the only thing I can come up with about this episode, that expands on the series.

You two did not disappoint in your reactions and in your thoughts afterwards., you are beautifully blunt and to the point. If that episode was any longer I feel you two would have just turned it off and gone straight into a Snack Attack video. :-)

I think they just wanted to test what they could get away with.

In case you didn't get the CHUD joke, it's a reference to an 80s horror b movie called C.H.U.D., which stood for Cannibalistic Humanoid Underground Dwellers.

I totally agree with this reaction; being gross isn't necessarily funny or smart... I have a theory that Justin Roiland has given up all creative control of Rick and Morty. He voices way less characters in favour of Dan and this may be why he made Solar Opposites. They have never publicly stated that he's no longer involved creatively but Justin never appears in behind the scenes material now either... Ryan Ridley also used to voice and write for the show and he's not appeared since season 3! My point is that Rick and Morty has changed. It used to be smart, silly chaotic rude and serialised whereas now it feels more introspective, gross and aimless. I'm not sure if the show can maintain quality or anticipation without building to something. I still think there's good stuff to come but the surprises are fewer and farther between.
