I love the new intro you have going on. It has a 'professional' feel to it. The other one, while a solid effort, doesn't quite have that feel. Great choice.

Matthew Berry

God, the delivery of "I said, 'Shut up!' As in 'Close your mouth and stop talking!'" makes for one of my favorite Riker moments ever. Such a funny way of cutting through that charade.

Keith Allison

I tried watching the intro a few times to give it a fair shot, but I think I prefer the old intro more. It's not that the new intro is bad, it's just that I prefer the "feel" I get from the original, simpler intro. Guess I'm a simple guy with simple tastes. As far as the episode itself, I really enjoyed it. This is actually one of my least favorite episodes of this season, but watching your reactions to it made it actually enjoyable. So thank you for allowing me to experience it again from a different perspective.

DS9 3x11 & 3x12: Past Tense, Parts 1 & 2 VOY 1x01 & 1x02: Caretaker

David Brown

If you want to see what someone is really like under pressure, make them use slow internet.

John

Hey Kat, I have a little salt and pepper in my hair and beard too. Just sayin' lol. (Who am I kidding, your beauty would most likely give me a heart attack lol) ๐Ÿค— Though, on a more serious note, I'm liking your hair up look, you are rockin' it girl

DarkAshtar

It's interesting how so far into the future, any minor lag from a computer is cause for a Level 1 diagnostic or supporting evidence that the world your in is fake. How I wish we were there already lol!

fcast17

"No you CAN'T, don't even TRY!!"

Pirateman

"My name is Barash" - *wiggles fingers in trepidation* "To me... you'll always be Jean-Luc." - *wiggles fingers in excitement*

Pirateman

Always nice when Sir Patrick wheels out Admiral Lenin.

Kevin Tipcorn

So next question... which point of DS9 does Voyager start?

Brett Delbridge

Even so Eric, stardates between shows don't always line up in regards to continuity and chronological order of events. And O'Brien wasn't in "Aquiel".

David Brown

Loving the new intro! It's a bit shocking and I'm sure it'll take me some time to get used to it, but I imagine i'll start to love it eventually. This is a really fun episode. My favorite part remains the musical cue when Riker realizes who Min is, and the scene that follows on the bridge where he's exposing the cracks. Yeah this season is a kicker. I'm looking forward to episodes 11 and 12. and 17. and 19. ... there are a lot of fun episodes. I can't be sure which ones you'll like and which ones you won't, but I'm looking forward to you experiencing them regardless.

Arek Schneyer

Yeah, David is right. Stardates line up for Chain of Command.

Eric

I looked it up. "Aquiel" would have been about the time O'Brien left for DS9. (According to airdate that is. Didn't check stardates.)

Eric

TNG 6x10 & 6x11: Chain of Command, Parts 1 & 2 DS9 1x01 & 1x02: Emissary

David Brown

I'm hate to say it, but I'm really not feeling the new intro. It doesn't really have the vibe that matches the show. The show is very laid back, like you're watching a show with your friends. The intro, however, is very in-your-face, screaming your name at me. It just seems a tone mismatch.

Bluefox

Well, in universe, DS9 starts in 2369, based on that year, it'd be an episode in season 6 of TNG.

Chrissonator

Copyright stuff is a pain... that's why half of my 3D animations are silent videos because of copyright nonsense.

Chrissonator

I was wondering which TNG episode coincides with the DS9 pilot

Brett Delbridge

No Hok'Tar, DS9 starts in the middle of Season 6.

David Brown

Better than imagining Data in blue.

David Brown

I'm wondering how far ahead the Gallifrey Girls are in TNG. For continuity reasons the start of season 5 is when they should start watching DS9.

Hok'Tar

Love the new intro! This episode is interesting. To take a character from Season 1 that a lot of people might not know or remember was interesting. I wonder if Jonathan Frakes had fun yelling at everyone, thats my favorite part :p

Chris Lane- Venturi 3D

I felt that way around Ragnarok as well. But then I actually went and saw what came after, and basically none of the issues I had were really there โ€“ and I'm guessing it'd be similar for you. Wandavision _is_ wacky and inventive, but it _will_ make you care enough for its main characters imho. (It made me rewatch some of the movies Wanda and Vision were in before.) Falcon and Winter Soldier, of the three Disney+ Marvel series, while being the nr. 3 of those 3 for me, was still very well done and never boring. Loki: Can't reeeeally say before I've seen its end, but so far I like it a lot. And what you hinted at simply doesn't matter for that show, and you'd get it in the first episode. :)

Patrick Armbruster

About the Marvel part of the conversation... For me, the Marvel stuff reached its peak with Thor Ragnarok and Avengers: Infinity War and ended with Avengers: Endgame (which was a bit of a letdown). I haven't been interested enough in anything after that to really give it a shot. Wandavision looks wacky and inventive, but I just don't care enough about its main characters. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier doesn't interest me because it's a show about side characters I was never really into in the movies. Loki doesn't work for me right from the start for a reason I can't get into due to Endgame spoilers. Black Widow would have been great back in 2015 or 2016. At this point, I don't think I'd watch it even if I could do so for free. I'm way past caring about that character's backstory. They really shouldn't have waited so long to give us her movie. Imagine if we hadn't gotten the first Wonder Woman movie until this year. That's what this is like for me.

Jeff Seely

Data in red just looks wrong

Brett Whittaker

It's fun for the "what-ifs", but not for the reason behind them. A mother just dumps her child onto a desolate planet with machines to give him all he supposedly needs. Bad parenting there, I tell ya.

Bruce Bromley

I've asked them to also check out either Farscape or Babylon 5. I actually really think Paula would really enjoy Babylon 5 as it's basically just a much better written version of DS9 with frankly more intriguing characters and story.

Scott Archibald

Back from grocery shopping to sit down and watch some trek while drinking my pumpkin spice flavoured coffee.

Scott Archibald

"My name is Barash." The discount Halloween party-store alien costume at the end is always my favorite part of this episode. "To me... you'll always be Jean-Luc." "I SAID: my name is BARASH." Lol.

ScotchBeard78

A. Holy shit that intro! 10/10! B. I've never really been able to put my finger on why this one isn't one of my favorites or terribly memorable. As usual, your reaction heightened my appreciation for it, but still. I do enjoy the season 1 call-back, and there have been a LOT so far this season, way more than I remember. Lore, Turkana IV, and now Minuet. I will say I loved the character bits. Riker's confession to his fauxson about his own insecurities with being a father related to his relationship with his dad is a BIG chin-wobbly eye-mister for me. And, yeah, the subtext Jonathan Frakes and Marina Sirtis injected into their conversation. Riker was THIS CLOSE to asking, "why wasn't it you?" Good stuff and thanks as always.

Joshua Gosdin

There's a great blooper to this episode on youtube called 'Star Trek INtakes: Geordi and Worf Celebrate Their Rescue 'if you guys wanted to watch .

John Savage

I imagine the scene when they get back to the Enterprise at the end and Riker introduces Picard to the kid. 'This is Jean-Luc. He reminds me of you'. ๐Ÿ˜†

Peter

I think you should give the Marvel stuff a try, Paula. Compared to a lot of big budget blockbuster movies the writing is significantly tighter and better done than most. Obviously not all of them hold up but the cohesive plot between all the movies is fun.

Josh G

Loving the new intro, ladies!

Bruce Bromley
