Its natural Gene Roddenberry would be proud of the kid. After all, Gene's middle name was...Wesley.

Mark Chrisco

There was another on an illegible-on-screen Okudagram in "Peak Performance." Two of the planets in the Braslota system are named Kei and Yuri.

Ken Quick

I actually met Majel Barrett at a convention back in the 90s, and she autographed a picture of her as Lwaxana in the purple dress. She truly loved the fandom. I hope you’ll react to “The Picard Song” by DarkMateria at some point, as it heavily samples from this episode, although I wouldn’t want it to spoil any of the Picard dialogue Katrina hasn’t heard yet. +5 to Katrina for making the comparison to Jerry Smith and his “Human Music.” +2 to Paula for taking another swing at reciting Picard’s opening monologue.

Matthew Zeidman

Ha! I caught the episode writers' Dirty Pair anime reference in DaiMon Tog's security code "Kei Yuri..."

Raja

A lot of people have a problem with this episode but I love it, it showcases what a great character lwaxana is and the whole ferengis erogenous zones are in their ears is just so silly and reminds me of cats, yes the part where she is tortured is dark, But it’s not a long scene I just see this as a silly episode, not to be taken seriously

I think Wesley's promotion would have even more powerful if we hadn't already seen him as one ih Yesterday's Enterprise. It was probably the reason for this infield promotion here. Them saying we made him the uniform, let's give a reason to wear it more than once.

Bruce Bromley

They do finally give Lwaxana room to evolve. By now she is far less a sitcom style mother or in-law. She shines in the latter episodes.

Bruce Bromley

I Propose that Commander Paula promote Katrina to full Ensign...immediately. Like if you approve

Once again, a delightful Gallifrey Gals reaction elevates my appreciation for an episode I've never been wild about. Y'all crying proud mom tears for Wesley at the end was WHOLESOME af. Lwaxana is rather divisive in the fandom (so I'm told), but this is the first episode to give her a bit of pathos. She contextualizes her meddling mom routine with Deanna in an overinflated (and not completely wrong) analysis of how Deanna buries herself in her work and gets most of her validation from her profession. She smacks down Tog's advances HARD and I'm totally with Worf in admiring how she handled it. And, at the very end, she got deadly serious and legit TRADED HERSELF for her daughter's life - before she knew the Enterprise had found them. Big Mom Energy. Also, Riker Rikering it up is fun. And, yeah, Wesley 100% sacrificed his schooling to help his friends. It would be like a star high school athlete knowingly missing a college recruiter to help a friend in need. Picard being the dad Wesley never got to have. :') Also, my man Ron Jones brings it with the soundtrack once again. I think this is in his top 5.

This is one of my favorite episodes of the series, because I’m an Imzadi shipper, love Lwaxana, and it’s a fun episode. I’ll grant you it’s far from the best episode, but I have my personal reasons for enjoying it. Also, a little flub - Riker (Frakes) has a bandaid on his hand in the Picard poetry scene. You can see it before he sits down.

trylikeafool

I was wondering if that was him. It'd be great if they make it to DS9 and then Voyager, my half awake math puts it at 8 or 9 years more.

Kirk Deighton

I love how much Katrina loves Wesley. A lot of people who are fans of the show don't really like his character, when I was younger I didn't. I do now though, I am a big Wil Wheaton/ Wesley fan now. This is probably one of my least favorite episodes, though it has some cute moments. I can't wait for the next 2 episodes!

e com

I don't like lwaxana and ferengi. I thought this episode (writing) was on s1 duds level. Wes got his pip, Patrick got his funny moment. Let's quickly move on and forget this fiasco.

Pickupthepieces76

Ethan Phillips! I hope in the future they react to DS9 and Voyager and the TNG movies!!

Daniel French

Best intro so far

TheHimble

At the very least, I'm hoping they react to the TNG movies at some point (though they may need to go through the TOS films for some added context)... Nah, you're right; they need to do all the rest of Star Trek. Just keep this train rolling!

Since Jan. I have been going through a difficult recovery from cancer surgery. Nerve damage has kept me mostly bedridden so it's been a lot of binge watching and other streaming entertainment. I just wanted you girls to know you have become the highlight of my Tuesdays. You two have made this recovery just a bit easier and for that I sincerely thank you and am proud to support you on patreon. I hope you both continue this for years to come into DS9 and perhaps go back and do some of the original series. If you do I will certainly be along for the journey.

John Welch

Hard agree.

Firefly24601

Oh wow, I've never heard this episodes name pronounced out loud, so I never connected the dots over the pun in the title when I was a kid haha

Mike

In every episode Lwaxana's appeared in, she's eaten something on-camera.

Ken Quick

I always enjoy the poetry scene, and the Wesley scene, and the chess scene, but I find the rest of the episode a little hard to stomach, so I rarely watch it.

Arek Schneyer

I feel like the only way to get through a rewatch of this episode is with the Gallifrey Gals. ... BUT, it has been a long time since I've watched it. Maybe I'm remembering it harshly. Warp speed ahead. :)
