Thanks for your reactions it really helps me get through things! I just got my 2nd covid shot today. and the 1st was awful. (Though far better than getting Covid I'm sure!). So I'll probably be binge watching for the next few days, likely watch your TNG next. Now IF IF IF we can get everyone to stop spreading the virus and vaccinate, we can be done with the pandemic soon. But all around me in KY there's parties, people unmasking, going out to eat. It pisses me off these STUPID AF spreaders! Can you call the Doctor and have him take these fools under wing and teach them to be responsible please?!

Mr Kitty

the whole point of this epiosde was for Clara to realize that everybody are ghosts to the doctor

What an absolutely marvellous comment

This to and fro debate on Clara is really quite fascinating. I always quite liked her from the outset. I never had an issue with how she engaged with The Doctor or The TARDIS. But then she is a literary character and was contrived that way for the plot. For me, it would be similar to not liking a triangle for being too pointy. As I saw it, she has been so far.... Bolshie, confident, brassey, strong willed, a wee bit flirty (oh heavens forbid), compassionate, nurturing, adventurous, emotionally vulnerable, playfully snippy, a proper northern lass, kind, generous and a smidgen of a mystery. She also happens to perhaps be subjectively quite pretty, which is not really that relevant and more to do with television casting. I thought Rose was a spoilt brat, not cognisant of other's feelings, reckless, funny, compassionate, emotionally immature at times, fiery, flirty, delightfully confrontational when necessary and I loved her too. Martha was intelligent, funny, loyal, reliable, emotionally vulnerable, supportive. And although nothing more negative comes to mind I do love her but is unfortunately my least favourite. Donna... Well I disliked Donna. She was loud, brash, self involved, deluded, funny, witty and I thought she was the worst casting choice possible. Then the show did something I found unconscionable, they brought her back! Catherine and the writers then did something unthinkable, they sought to change my mind. Donna became the best friend The Doctor will ever have. Adding Kind, compassionate, vulnerable, charming, immeasurably hilarious and I adore her and loath what they did to her character. But I respect it as great writing choice. Oh Amy... I find it harder to examine Amy. Because her personality became more of a product of The Doctors involvement in her life. Jumping in and out of her life with such casual disregard of what that might do to a young person's mind. When your imagery friend actually comes back into your life and you agree to let him further turn it upside down, inside out then reboot it. All the while you keep everything about you from the first set of events which have been altered. That's a emotional minefield I can't even begin to comprehend enough to evaluate. I just love her as I do all of them. Because The Doctor is written to do so marvelously.

It's always interesting how different characters resonate (or don't) with people. Clara to me is just fun and a bit bolshy (like Donna) -- which I like -- whereas I think that Rose was a MASSIVE brat and a jerk and so I can't stand watching any story with her in it. Anyway, I definitely agree with others about how I don't think Clara is being a jerk here -- especially to the TARDIS. The TARDIS is treating her poorly for some reason, it makes sense for her to react to that and not be a doormat? As for romance, while the Doctor is one to flirt with LOADS of people, I sincerely doubt he's actually romantically interested in Clara at this point. She's just an interesting puzzle to solve. And Clara, I think, it just dazzled by the adventures with the Doctor, but not romantically into him either. As for River, as many people have said, they're not only in an open relationship (almost every time we see River, she talks about the other people she's dating and it's TOTALLY A NON-ISSUE), but they don't have a linear-style relationship anyway. Is he married to her? Widowed from her? Just beginning to date her? It's complicated. And I personally think one of the most awesome things about River is that she GETS how complicated life is with the Doctor -- whereas I think that's one thing Rose, for example, never understood. Rose just wanted a regular-style boyfriend with a guy who's actually an unfathomable ancient time-traveling alien. That was never going to work. River and the Doctor lead their separate lives and, with that, have both separate adventures and separate loves. It's what I love so much about that. <3

Love this

Brandon Scott

Oh... there is a minisode called Clara & The Tardis that deals with their relationship... kinda'

If you're not supposed to be within 6ft of people you don't live with, it's hard to go for coffee with a friend. Especially if you have an immune deficiency or preexisting condition. These 2 work from home, at least we know Paula does so she really has been limiting her "pod". I work retail so I'm around people all day (unfortunately), but I haven't seen friends in a year because they work from home and I don't want to unknowingly carry something to them.

Alisa Loudner

Its a bad pun! Because Blyth is pronounced the same as Bliss and those two are opposite one another on a map. So Clara took the Doctor's question & made a joke. It also has a reputation as the most promiscuous city in Europe. Not sure if that mean anything

Mark Ten

I feel like I've been on par with you guys emotionally these past few episodes, and this one wasn't much different. I don't quite know if I feel like there is outward 'wannabe' romance between the Doctor and Clara thus far, but there are definitely moments where the lines are said in a certain way that it could lean that way. I know it may be irrational (as I've seen many comments say it thus far), but I do understand Paula and Katrina's feelings on the whole River thing. I love River, and her relationship with the Doctor was always fun to watch, and even if I do consciously acknowledge what people have been saying about him technically being a widower, I'm also there emotionally with Paula since for me it has only been a few episodes since I've seen the Doctor and River together and I miss them. It has certainly been an interesting last couple of episodes, and Clara is slowly growing on me. I like how witty and spunky she is so far.

Kbex

I see your point but I feel She can be a little rude. I mean calling the tardis an old cow is rude to be honest. As for the romance bit I agree with you to a degree, but yeah I’m like you. I love Clara. P.s she’s slowly growing on Paula

Steven morgan

Great reaction as usual girls. As you know I don’t agree with everything you say, but golly gee gosh I thought it was funny when you got upset when she called the tardis an old cow 😂 don’t worry the tardis can handle herself, keep them coming

Steven morgan

I've loved him since way back in 'Ever After' in the 90s, myself. He's pretty cute on 'Batwoman' these days, but I'm not as fond of him doing an American accent in that one (his natural Scottish accent is SO MUCH BETTER). (And, of course, he's in 'United' -- with David Tennant -- so that's two pretty boys in one film, though unfortunately that's a super-tragic story). <3

Nicole Mazza

Just wanted to add that I do get Paula's reaction though.

LatePaul

A good episode and a good reaction. Another one that I tend to forget how good it is. I like Clara and I don't feel like she's romantically interested in the Doctor, just fascinated and a bit dazzled (as Amy was initially). And I definitely don't think the Doctor is in her.

LatePaul

Also River has been dead for thousands of years to the Doctor. They are "married" but she is DEAD.

Scott Archibald

I have a huge issue with peoples thoughts on Clara being rude. She is not rude, she is honest. Nothing she has every done has been rude. The issue is people see things that aren't even a thing. She has zero romantic interest in The Doctor and vice versa. You are simply making things up in your head cannon.

Scott Archibald

Not to be rude cause I don't know how it is down in the states but why can't you go for coffee to meet people. here in BC Canada places are open (at reduced capacity of course) but you can still go out for coffee and sit down.

Scott Archibald

I love Clara as Companion for the Doctor.. reminds me of Rose somtimes.. (Badass and smart.. and very pretty).

Gallifrey Gals meets Death x Monsters!

Firefly24601

And FFS, forget River for a bit. I swear, Moffat's creation of River was the worst decision he could have made, because now nobody else can even be close to the Doctor without fans carping incessantly about friggin' River bloody Song. I now wish she never existed.

Scribbles

Yes, and it's really, REALLY annoying that they're getting mad at Clara for being annoyed that the TARDIS is being mean to her and she doesn't know why. I doubt they would be all sweetness and light if the TARDIS was shutting them out and being exceptionally unhelpful to them without them knowing why it's happening. It's like if somebody came up and slapped you and you have no idea what you did to cause it. Would any rational person NOT be pissed off?

Scribbles

I don't think it is so much that Clara is being mean to the Tardis, but rather the Tardis is subtly rebelling against Clara's presence, shutting her out etc. The Tardis is aware of the anomaly of Clara seeming to have been from different time periods, and Clara is frustrated by the Tardis' standoffishness. This is a great atmospheric episode, with excellent guest performances.

Lloyd B

He's. Not. Married. At the very, very least he's a widower. Let him be happy for once.

Scribbles

I am absolutely love to Dougray Scott in this episode! If you don't know who he is, I suggest you IMDb his name. You will be pleasantly surprised at the number of credits he has. 😁😁❤❤
