The way people to this day mistake the term "toxic masculinity" for saying "manliness is toxic" instead of referring to a masculinity that is toxic, as simply and obviously as one might describe a "poisoned apple", seems very. . .deliberate. And yeah Ozai is an abusive parent. He's a dictator, so it follows. Cults, dictatorships and abusive relationships are pretty much the same thing on different scales. Look up "the narcissist's prayer" and you can see the basic principle each of these people live by: The evasion of accountability.

I do love that they both touch on how if Katara had healed Zukos scar in the crystal cave he then wouldn’t have sided with Azula. With that scar gone Zukos redemption arc would have been completed and he would have sided with Aang which would have prevented Aang from being injured. We can all see that wonderful moment just slip away and I find most people don’t talk about that.

Although I will admit I like Azula!

Cant wait for Season 3.. but its a pitty after that.. its over.. Do you continue with "The Legend of Korra" after Season 3 is finished.. or do you ladies search for something els.. and continue later with Korra?? Just wondering.. Love your reactions so much. Keep it up. Greetings from The Netherlands.

Emotionally frustrating but a fantastic episode. I liked what you had to say about toxic masculinity. The show is great in that it’s an action adventure fantasy series that is unafraid to take a stance on that issue and offer a range of emotional experiences for the characters. And it’s best represented by the shows attitude towards the values held by the Fire nation, or at least their leadership. Might makes right, violence is always the answer, and showing any kind of emotion or empathy is a sign of weakness. And the hero fighting against them is a 12 year old vegetarian monk who only uses violence as a means of self defense or in defense of others. And look at the main characters in general- between Aang, Katara, Sokka, Toph, Iroh, Zuko, and even Azula, you run the whole gamut of different ways of expressing masculinity and femininity, and while each of them have certain meanings, none of them are squarely 100% in one box or the other.

"God damn it, Zuko!" - everyone ever. Fantastic, tough reaction. Love this series so much.
