Here we go the episode that was the reason I joined the Patreon. The beginning of an amazing storyline.

Dan Williams

I thought it was Camo, short for camouflage

Andrew Hogan

I'd say Kat was fully engaged, pardon the pun, with this episode. If her feline children get too loud in wanting attention they'll pause recording. Let's just see if the advice she got from Gates McFadden does the trick in making Kemo (sp?) behave.

Bruce Bromley

The thing about the whole "fuck them, fuck the empire, tell the truth, etc" Katrina has going on, I'm not sure if it's clear that it's not just about pleasing a powerful family. In a full on civil war, millions innocents could die! Not to mention the Romulans could take advantage of the chaos, maybe conquer the Klingons. The Federation would be unable to take a side. If Duras side wins, the Alliance could be dissolved and the Klingons could side the Romulans against the Federation. Duras family already betrayed them with the Romulans once. Risk all of the that just so (mostly) Worf doesn't have to feel bad? Also, you gotta figure out something with that cat. Not for us, but for Katrina, I feel like her immersion/absorption/appreciation of this episode was diminished a little by distraction.

JXTN

Always struck by how cinematic this episode is, especially with the first two acts being shipbound.

Mark Chrisco

I’ll be interested to watch Paula and Katrina’s take on this episode. Quite frankly, I always found the vast majority of Klingon-centric episodes to be boring exercises in misery for Worf. Perhaps it’s time I give them a second look.

Artemis Zeidman

So will you be watching the movies, would love to see reaction to Wrath of khan, Search for Spock, Voyage home and undiscovered country

Brett Whittaker

I agree, he is in a difficult moral position, as Klingon morals go. In a way he's being held hostage by his own council.

Jarrod Wild

Am I the only one who finds K'mpek a sympathetic character? Duras is a massive prick but he has a lot of power. If you call him on his bullshit you plunge the Empire into a civil war that will destroy it. K'mpek knows its wrong, but has to go along or something even worse will happen.

EricH86

Khalest? I forgot that was her name. Interesting name...

Matt O'Keefe

He was also - unforgettably......The Candyman!

Ian Smith

EAT THE RICH! YES GIRL!

Jason Faria

“Little trained minions”. Love it 🤣

Aaron Thorpe

Always kind of baffled why they don't offer up the human dish of an extra-hot vindaloo curry to visiting klingons to really test them. TASTE THE PAIN, TASTE IT! "This, this is a sadist's dish HU-MON!" But by God I share Kurn's distaste at the sight of that perilously dry bird. C'mon Picard, where's that French cooking? Bust out the sauces! Crack open the bordeaux! I weep, honestly I do. I do like Picard's mannerisms when he's not precisely happy but is taking one for the team as a Captain, much like 19th century Royal Navy Captains would have to humour eccentric diplomats and personages of all nations while conveying them on long voyages. But you're right on calling PIcard out on his slow response in a knife fight. Certainly not up to duelling master Gurney Halleck's standard! (Ever seen David Lynch's flawed but fascinating Dune? Patrick Stewart is a badass in that film.) Great seeing Tony Todd, one of those hard-working veteran 'that guy!' actors I admire who pop up everywhere - including Babylon 5. This is a great episode, I love the Shakespearean / Kurosawa relish Trek enjoys when they start playing with them. All the same, I do sometimes wish that the ultimate klingon way of settling issues was a dance-off. To be fair on the High Council Leader, in his position I'd go to almost any length to prevent a civil war if peace could be maintained. Civil wars are evil things. Some good acting from the guy playing him. You can tell he once had proud dreams and honour which was gradually stripped away by realpolitik trying to keep a squabbling empire together. Michael Dorn, as ever, is tremendous. I'm perpetually in awe how he manages to completely inhabit Worf and bring such soul and truth to his role, yet manages to so deftly slip into comedy at a moment's notice. I think he's one of the strongest actors in Trek's history. By the way I like your cardigan, Paula. Why don't klingon's wear comfortable cardigans? Mix it up a bit, klingons! Anyway, great stuff! I've always enjoyed STNG's klingon tales, and this one is certainly no exception. Great houses! Honour and dishonour! Fallen kings! Hurrah!

Peter Evans

He did say Emperor and it is the Kingon Empire. I believe the leader of all is called Chancellor.

Bruce Bromley

Did Kahlest say that Mog was loyal to "The Emperor" or to "The Empire"? I assumed Empire for all these years, but I'm not so sure anymore.

Firefly24601

"Imperial Empire"? How did no one catch that? Surprised you didn't mention that this was co-written by Ron Moore, who would be well-associated with Klingon stories, and even wrote up a treatment discussing Klingon culture. Fans of the series "Chuck" may also remember Tony Todd as the ill-fated CIA Director Graham.

Neil McRae

One of my favorite episodes. I love the way they built up and expanded on Klingon lore throughout the series.

thereelnerd

That final scene with the council turning their backs to Word has been one of the many that have stuck with me for 30 years. Willing to become a pariah to his people. Far worse than death, in my opinion . No spoilers but his road back to honor is very satisfying. BTW, congrats at hitting 600 of us little trained minions with you on Patreon. Can 10000 in YouTube be far behind?

Bruce Bromley

That long lost brother reveal was straight up Days Of Our Lives worthy but this episode really makes it work. I first saw this episode on my birthday years ago when I was given a VHS set of Worf episodes, very fond memories associated with this one so it was cool to see somebody else see it for the first time. Still got those tapes...

Brendon Waldron

I love this arc. I find this episode an interesting idea. Is the personal and family honour of one house worth the potential thousands/millions of lives a civil war could cost? I think Worf made an honourable choice to put his honour and pride aside to protect the Empire and the lives a civil war could cost even though it meant that a traitor would be protected. That he chose to fight another day.

Peter

Yeah, I was just thinking of a certain scene in season 7. Kat would like this, I thought.

Eric

We have episodes from TOS ready to watch! Once we wrap up our current seasons we will be watching some TOS as bonus episodes that have been voted on by patrons!

Time Lord

Vague spoiler, but hoo boy does this one have repercussions extending well into DS9.

Ken Quick

Tony Todd also has a minor role in Chuck which you guys should definitely watch if you haven't seen. A great show for geeks like us.

Josh G

I've caught up! :) Great. Now I'm confused. Did the reaction(s) to TOS episode(s) ever happen?
