Suranne Jones is indeed 'quite something '. You should check out her work in Gentleman Jack, where she's equally as charismatic as she is in this.

Paul Flux

'What the f* is happening?' - Neil Gaiman is writing for Doctor Who, and it's going to be glorious! 😉

Paul Flux

Gaiman is pronounced with 'ai' like 'day', not like 'sky'. This is a pretty common one just because it really seems like there's no way a person actually made it to adulthood still using a name that middle-school-bullyable, but he did and continues to.

The other one being "Well hello there"

Travis Starnes

So many great moments here! I love (1) that Amy’s immediate choice for “delight” is her wedding day, (2) the way that Arthur Darvill delivered his lines as Old Rory—“Two thousand years I waited for you, and [head bangs on wall] you [BANG] did it [BANG] to me AGAIN!!!”, (3) Five’s utter fury with Auntie and Uncle upon discovering the boxes and then again with House in his console room. This is the episode I point people to when I try and explain why, even though Tom Baker will always be My Doctor, I think that Matt Smith is the best Doctor in terms of performance.

I could not agree any more on that!! I love coming back to this time in SM era because it still feels fresh and fun. And.. well.. I'll try to keep the rest to myself for now 😂 - Kat

Time Lord

A fun episode. Seeing this season again is bringing back the frustrations I felt the first time around with SM's direction of the show. This was a nice break from it.

The absolute best thing is seeing Katrina's face moments before a major event Is about to happen (I'm referring to the final goodbye of "Sexy"). I know its coming and I always feel it moments before it actually hits the screen. And seeing her face as the moment approaches I know she feels it too. It's nice to share that.. And then I get to see Paula experience it for the first time. This is a big reason I love watching these two.

Always worth it 😍 - Kat

Love this story. Message cubes are a great classic Who reference.

I've been waiting for this one. This episode finally locked in Matt Smith as the Doctor for me. "Fear me, I've killed hundreds of time lords", "Fear me, I've killed all of them".

Chris Fields

It's definitely in the top 2.

John

This episode has a special place in my heart. It’s when my doctor Sylvester McCoy had to share his place in my heart with my nuwho doctor Matt Smith, yes I have two doctors who are mine. I loved this episode so much, i wasn’t expecting to like surrane Jones as all I knew her as was a soap actress at the time but she blew me away, she stole that role absolutely awesome. Oh god this is so good as I know what’s coming up. P.s you talking about unearthly child, there is a perfect time to watch it. At the end of season six without a doubt. Would love to see that reaction

Steven morgan

I just cried in my burrito. Worth it.

Larry Viscarra

I love this episode, everyone deliverers an incredible and emotional performance, especially Matt who absolutely SLAYS. So many depths and nuances to his Doctor just from this single episode. This is up there with the best. Great reaction, favourite part is always seeing how people react to his "I killed them all line", just such a badass!

Daniel Reynolds

I've seen thousands upon thousands of films and tv episodes, and certainly this is the best and most emotional use of a "Hello" ever.

Opti_Frog

Gallifrey Gals get Stiffety Lippety?

Opti_Frog

Pre-union! Excellent! And it would have fit this episode really well.

Opti_Frog

Great episode, one of my favs. Also will be subbing for TNG season 3...You two will be reacting to both awesomes seasons of these series.

paulh7791

It has been said that when the TARDIS materialises in a new location, within the first nanosecond of landing its chameleon circuit analysed the surrounding area, calculated a twelve-dimensional data map of all objects within a thousand-mile radius and then determined which outer shell would best blend in with the environment. I think that the TARDIS considers the analysis of the chameleon circuit, decides she doesn't like it and materialises as a 1960s era police box. That's her look, and nobody is going to tell her what she looks like when she goes out and about.

Colin 3of5

"You want to be forgiven!" "Don't we all?" The way Matt delivered that line - so much truth and heartache in it. It still weighs so heavily on his conscience.

John

Ah its good to be back! And what an episode to return on! When Paula mentioned downton abbey it made me wonder.. would it be possible as a future series for you two watch it? Maybe call it the Gallifrey Gals get posh or something😂

george waterman

Once in a while, we see the curtain pulled back from the zany, energetic persona the Doctor projects to his companions and everyone else around him. I think we saw that in this episode when the TARDIS talked to him for the last time. For a brief moment after that, everything else was stripped away and he looked like a sad, lonely old man. It was a pretty heartbreaking moment.

Jeff Seely

Suranne Jones is SUCH a good actress. I've seen her in Scott and Bailey, Doctor Foster, and I'm DYING to see her in Gentleman Jack!

Firefly24601

This is one of my favorite episodes, been waiting on this one a while. I have a friend who loved this one so much, we are playing a who doctor who ttrpg campaign (funnily enough Also on thursdays) with the tardis as a person. "You never took me where I wanted to go!" "But I always take you where you Needed to go"

Aleph Sharp

Neil Gaiman and Michael Sheen. Too bad they couldn't have David Tennant (for obvious reasons) in this episode as well. Could have had a Good Omens pre-union!!

Firefly24601

Suranne Jones would make an amazing Doctor!

John

I clicked the link and clicked the like as soon as I saw the message about this episode. It's a favourite.
