Still in the pandemic now, I've been out to eat once so far. I was masked and vaccinated, yet 90% of patrons were unmasked. I've not been out anywhere around humans since. Red States are insane for not taking this seriously! The US just reached 700k needless deaths. SMH - As to the episode, it really is one of the greats that shows us about Klingons.

Mr Kitty

Speaking of “Jeffrey” and Star Trek, it’s an oldie but a goodie of a YouTube gem. https://youtu.be/2pDl903okdQ Talk about Best of both worlds(pardon the pun).

Todd “Canuck” Schmuck

And now for something completely different. Have either of you seen the movie "Jeffrey" ? It's a gay love story released back in '95 and Patrick Stewart plays a fabulously flamboyant man. Here's a YouTube clip of some of his scenes from the movie if you're interested: https://youtu.be/wft3c07r1KY

John

Poor Paula, going though all of Suzie Plakson's credits and missing the one where you both actually remember her from. 🙂. That of the Vulcan Dr. Selar in "The Schizoid Man".

Bruce Bromley

Same, being solitary is my natural state. I'm happy to not be going through the craziness a lot of people are going through these days.

Bruce Bromley

I hope they make it to season 5 and get to see the best episode of the series

Andrew Ramos

Please delete the spoiler.

John

She played Robert's (Brad Garrett - 6' 8.5") ex-wife in a couple of episodes of Everybody Loves Raymond.

David Brown

Here I am, not knowing what quarantine feels like... as I've not had such an experience during this whole situation. lol

Chrissonator

This is about my favorite episode from Season 2. I've always loved the Klingon culture and Worf is a great character. I wish K'Ehleyr showed up more.Onward to Season 3 and beyond!

Jared Abrahamson

I love this episode! Worf kicks so much ass in the final scene. And, I like the thematic link between the poker game and the climax. It gives Worf this great little character arc as he and K'Ehleyr are both stuck in black-and-white thinking. He goes from, "Klingons never bluff" to literally bluffing Klingons!

Joshua Gosdin

Worf, like Data, have some of the best character episodes once the writers finally figured out how much opportunity they have to explore culture and personalities with them from a non-human perspective. They played with it a little bit with Data right from the beginning but they took a while to realize how much Klingon culture could be explored with Worf. It's about time he got an in depth episode.

John

Fun fact. In the poker scene Worf states “Klingons do not bluff.” And at the end of the episode while talking to the Klingon captain, Worf never lies. Not once. He said he was commanding the Enterprise, he was as Picard had handed him command. He never said he was a captain, the other Klingon assumed. He said the war was over, it was. He never said the Klingons won. The other Klingon assumed.

SplinterTME

I didn’t realise this episode was this early I thought it was season three. I understand what Katrina says about gentle, even though they draw blood, there is something sweet about it, it’s not like two animals rutting like I thought Klingons would be like ( sorry for that image ) 😂😂😂

Steven morgan

Seconding this. React to the gag reel. It’s about 10 minutes and on YouTube. That will probably have to be in lieu of a season 3 trailer, because there’s not one that doesn’t spoil a bunch of stuff.

trylikeafool

When I was a kid, I always loved how Suzie Plakson said "Klingon NONSENSE!" And the patronizing way she said "They're Klingons, they'll ATTACK."

Firefly24601

I remember reallllyyyy identifying with K'Ehleyr when I was younger. Both of us having parents from two different cultures, hers was the first character who seemed to feel conflict between them. Worf was Klingon raised human, but identified as Klingon. Troi was half Betazoid, but identified as Betazoid. K'Ehleyr felt home in neither culture, like I did.

Firefly24601

Definitely in my top 5 of Season 2 stories. Suzie Plakson is magnificent, and has wonderful presence.

Gallifrey Gals Get "Worfed"

Robert Hill

I think you gals brought up before, but does Paula have the full gag reel for season 2 to show to Katrina?

Jarrod Wild

This is directed towards Paula: Will you include a reaction to Shades of Grey with Peak Performance to save time. Someone already asked this so let me just say this. As a fan for 30+ years my first introduction to a Star Trek was TOS, it’s movies and TNG. I didn’t like DS9, VOY, or ENT when they first came out. However I had a marathon and watched every episode of every series a few years ago and you should definitely check them out. It’s not TNG, but a lot of the things you seems to enjoy about ST carry over in those shows. They aren’t TNG, but they’re worth the investment.

Andrew Hogan

I had a few requests if you’ll indulge me: 1. Is it possible to post a quick vid with an overview of your opinions on the first season since it’s on another channel. 2. Who and what are your favorite episodes so far. 3. What would you like to see happen in the third season. 4. Is there anybody you’ve seen that you would like to see / not see again? 5. What are your favorite things about the show ex. Aliens, Characters, Stories

Andrew Hogan

its interesting to watch the series again through someone else’s perspective. I’m guessing it has something to do with the fact you’re both in the industry and understand how the formula works.

Andrew Hogan

I’m going to have to do this in sections because Patreon has a crappy writing tablet.

Andrew Hogan

One thing that stands out about Susie Plakson is that she's 6 feet and half an inch tall. To this day, she's one of the tallest actresses I've seen. Her height was great for this half-Klingon role, but I can't help but think that it must have held back her career -- especially in the '80s and '90s. Gotta be shorter than your male co-stars unfortunately. And she didn't have a role like Brienne of Tarth to latch onto. For me, this is the episode where Worf really started to get interesting. He was more of a curiosity before this, but now we're finally getting to know some deep stuff about him.

Jeff Seely

Just a quick technical note - the audio is a bit all over the place with levels because Paula's mic is a lot quieter than Katrina's. I can still hear everything, but I sometimes have to turn the volume up and down while watching. I don't know if Paula has a different mic she can use, or if the audio can be balanced more in post...just a suggestion if you have to keep up this format for the foreseeable future. Thanks for being flexible during this whole situation and continuing to do the videos!

trylikeafool

Same. I hate how Patreon is organized. They make it hard to find stuff.

trylikeafool

Yeah...I knew she'd done a previous part. Doctor Selar, right?

trylikeafool

I think this is the first time I've ever watched this episode all the way through. Worf stories aren't my favorite (sorry, Paula) so I usually don't rewatch those episodes. But I love the poker scenes and I'd never seen this one before. I'm glad Galifrey Gals made me watch it, since it helps fill in some of my knowledge gaps about Worf. Love the next episode coming up - one of my favorites of season 2. I wish you would do a short video talking through your reaction to "Shades of Gray" and your overall opinion of season 2 before you completely wrap up. Already looking forward to season 3!

trylikeafool

For some reason this didn’t show up in my feed on the Patreon App. Had to go directly to your page to find it.

G0d_Ginrai

You probably recognize Suzie Plakson from earlier in the season: In 2x06, "The Schizoid Man," she was Dr. Selar, the Vulcan doctor. Even though she's only on-screen for a couple of minutes, she quickly became a fan-favourite and she's appeared in a bunch of TNG comics and novels. You can hear her getting paged in background audio in some future episodes, so she's on the ship even if we never see her. Apparently Tracy Tormé wanted to develop a romance between Selar and Worf, but dropped the idea when The Emissary was being developed. But Plakson came back to play K'Ehleyr anyway, so everyone wins.

Sìne Watson

The actress who played K'Ehleyr, Susie Plakson, has appeared on Next Gen previously as a Vulcan doctor in the episode The Schizoid Man. This is definitely one of my favorite episodes of Season 2. Next week is another enjoyable one. And then Season 3, and to quote River Song, "That's when everything changes." ;)
