can't watch this one ether :(

I'm just starting your Warped series. I can't view the eps before this one. Is that something worth the effort to fix?

haha ;) -Paula

Time Lord

yeah, I also really love this episode! -Paula

Time Lord

it sort of humanizes things a bit, doesn't it? Though I do really love how smart and good at problem-solving the regular crew are as well. -Paula

Time Lord

it's something I notice even in the difference between TNG and DS9 as well. I honestly love the contemplative pace of TNG. Gives my brain a moment to process some of the big issues the show ends up wrestling with. -Paula

Time Lord

One of my fav's looking and delving into klingon culture, If only we were evolved enough to look at other cultures and learn and not jump to conclusions. ;) Too many great moments to list and I hate lists... Great Ep thanks ladies!

Chaos Surveyor

I had never noticed that! Thank you for pointing it out.

John

I FORgot out this one, 😂 I think I’ve forgotten a lot of season two

Steven morgan

Wow did you see what Data did at 43:14? Data is awesome!

Ryi

Actually I’ve just rewatched the episode myself recently and forgotten how it was so glad that you’re enjoying it

Lachlan Billing

She's too damn good!! -Kat

So excited to have you here on this journey with us! I couldn't agree more about the Klingon's. Such an incredible and interesting species and it feels so natural. Also, that scene with Riker is absolutely one of my favorites so far! - Kat

I always liked this episode a lot. It set the tone for Klingons in TNG, and really started to characterize Riker more. Also boy Paula really buried the lead into the next episode there! Lol and love the overalls! Nice look.

One of my favorites of season two, and I think it’s an above average episode of TNG. I love how Riker is gung-ho about new experiences, and he’s quick on his feet. Lots of great little character moments in this one - even with Wesley and O’Brien.

Note To Self: Never ever play poker with Paula. That face is too strong!

Ay - hello! I'd been following your YouTube channel for some time, I figured on joining soon as you hit this fun gem and the show begins to really turn it around. I do love a Riker episode too. This is the episode where they really began to codify the klingons. I've always had a soft spot for them, as in most shows when I see an alien I tend to think, "Ah, there's an actor in bumpy forehead makeup," whereas in Star Trek the klingons genuinely feel like living, breathing people - no matter their odd mix of Shakespearean posturing and battered Soviet-Union-esque hardware. I started watching your channel because of the Season One Dr. Who reactions, but to be honest I was more interested in your take on STNG as it's a childhood favourite of mine. In fact, despite being a Brit I even kind of like it more than Dr. Who. Please don't tell anyone that around here, I may be hung for treason. Anyway, looking forward to joining you on your journey on the comfiest spaceship in the galaxy. Episode Take-Aways: 1: I like to think that Riker walked away with a pen-friend in Mr. Friendly Klingon. And a goodie bag and a sticker book that he can update with new exciting klingon stickers posted from their homeworld and a discount club card for one of their leather & plating stores and oh, everything. 2: John Putch as Mendon is hilarious in this. What could be a punchable character is just utterly charmingly smug. His little smile and raise of the head as he ponders once again the fact that, "Yes, I am the best," endears me to him every time. 3: What is the 'Induction' meeting on the Enterprise exactly? A four hour course on not to walk off on your own in an away team and start poking sketchy looking alien eggs with your finger? 4: That crewman standing next to Mendon as he's chewed out by the rest of the crew is clearly fake-pressing buttons pretending to be busy, as I would be, whilst eavesdropping shamelessly. 5: This has arguably my favourite scene of this season, which is Riker just eating with gusto in Ten-Forward. I could pretty much watch an entire episode of him cheerfully eating a klingon smorgasbord with various crew members looking on in horrified disgust. P.S: Don't worry about the cat. When I hear it I'll just pretend it's the ship's cat, no matter which ship may be featuring on screen at that given point.

Peter Evans

I like the moments where a (new) crewmember doesn't have all the answers. The regular crew are almost always knowledgeable and do the right thing or come up with the solution at the right time jobwise. Which make sense, cause its the flagship. But I like when once in a while they flesh out when somebody is struggling with the high demands of a job onboard a starship, let alone the flagship. See how they learn and cope. Or maybe I just relate to the struggle haha.

My only regret for next week’s episode is the likelihood that you didn’t get to experience its extended version that was included on the Blu-Ray release of TNG Season 2. Well, here’s hoping once the two of you are allowed to be in the same room together again, you might be able to revisit it somewhere down the line.

Honestly, comments like this are some of my favorite! It's so exciting to know so many people are seeing these episodes in a new light and appreciation. I can't wait for Y'ALL to see next week's!!! -Kat

Time Lord

I told her the same thing!! They're so cute! -Kat

Time Lord

His meow is INSANE sometimes*! *always, it's always. 😂 -Kat

Time Lord

Like a lot of fans of the show, I tend to crap on most of the first two seasons because the show seriously kicks into high gear starting in season 3. But watching it vicariously through Katrina is really giving me a new love for the early seasons. And I'm REALLY looking forward to seeing what Kat thinks of the NEXT episode.... :)

The Crazed Spruce

I love your curtains, Paula!!!

Firefly24601

What! That's so cool! I'm gonna have to keep my eyes out for him! -Kat

Time Lord

I am really loving that Riker is more involved in the episodes!! It's so exciting! -Kat

Something I've noticed the past two weeks is how much more leisurely the pace is than it is in the current Star Trek series (probably the reason why I'm just now noticing that is because I binged the back half of Star Trek: P[is it a spoiler to finish that title?] shortly before last week's GalGalWarped episode.) They put in a noticeable amount of just routine starship procedure, and it really works for me. Gives the brain time to breathe, rather than be bombarded with story every minute. Others' mileage may vary of course.

Rick Bell

I think another reason this episode seemed to fly by was that both Troi and LaForge were AWOL. Certainly Riker-centric, with Worf along for the ride..

Bruce Bromley

I completely understand Katrina wanting Q to return. He's a great character. The guy who played Second Officer Klag (the one serving directly under Riker on the Klingon ship) is character actor Brian Thompson. He's played a ton of roles in various shows and movies over the years. He's been in three Star Trek series, one Star Trek movie, Alien Nation, Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, The X-Files, Charmed, and many other shows and movies. He's practically the definition of "Hey, it's that guy!"

Jeff Seely

Anything that involves learning about Klingons is also my favorite parts of star trek, its also interesting watching this and seeing the subtle changes (and the not so subtle changes) from now all the way up through TNG and ofc straight through DS9. Also I feel like any episode I can remember that focused on Riker as the main character is up there in terms of quality. I think like most cast members he was a bit nervous and inexperienced in Season 1 and overshadowed by Picard, but there is a reason why the trope that is named after the improvement of this show in season two is called "Growing the Beard" Riker is in pretty much every episode and main character in many of them and yet still somehow feels under utilized sometimes to me

Deagor

Ok, the first time I heard the cat meow, I thought it was a red alert claxon in the background. It's always hit or miss with Klingons. At times they really develop and delve into their history and lore and other times they're just cartoonish violent thugs.
