I am always amazed at how comfortable Matt feels as the Doctor in this story, especially since it's the first one he did. He just clicked instantly with the character, in my opinion. <3

2020-05-22 07:34:54 +0000 UTCIt's worth noting that way back in Silence in the Library when River is checking her diary to work out where in the Doctor's timeline they are, she says "Have we done the wreck of the Byzantium yet?" Well, here they are in the wreck of the Byzantium. Moffat plays a long game... As for the final scene with Amy, it doesn't bother me that much. Here she is with her raggedy Doctor, who she's been fantasizing about since she was 7, after a near death experience. I agree with Paula in that she's a mess of emotions trying to work out what she wants. I also think it conversely puts to rest any notion that there is going to be any real romantic relationship by having the topic dealt with and rejected by the Doctor - in the same way as Donna's "I'm not mating with you, sunshine!" in Partners in Crime. We can all now move on from it. People who are angry with Amy for it are taking it all too seriously, I think.
