When Re-watching Star Trek: The Motion Picture I was reminded just how much of what was done in Next Gen was based off of set ideas and themes from the movies. Even the opening music for Next Gen was a version of the motion picture's theme. There's also more than one character in the original series and movies that make appearances in Next Generation.

But that may just be my bias bleeding into it (because she's probably my least favorite character). But hey, Whoopi Goldberg! I won't give away anything about the character she's playing. I'll just say that her character is probably my third favorite TNG character after Data and Picard. I really like her and I think Katrina will too.
