There is at least 1 over-arching connection between The Outer Limits and Star Trek and that is prop designer Wah Chang. He designed some of the props (e.g. tricorder, communicator) for Star Trek and monsters seen in both series. I wont' say which ones, because that would be a possible spoiler.
