2025-08-19 16:35:42 +0000 UTCWhy did the kid get sent back with his Cardassian dad? Because he was never an orphan, nor abandoned by his father. He was kidnapped, presumed dead by his family. Once the kidnapping plot was revealed, the whole arbitration became irrelevant. Sending the kidnapping victim back to Bajor would've made no damn sense at all, and would've been unthinkable nonsense when this episode aired, from a legal standpoint. Facts don't care about your feelings in 2025, much less back in '93. Lol. It was a nice touch to have O'Brien tell Rugal that any time he wanted to visit his Bajoran "parents" he'd make sure it happened.
