If I have only 2 things that have disappointed me on this Star Trek Journey, it's Josh and Alex hating Undiscovered Country and being convinced that Riker is jerk. Even if this episode didn't change their minds, I'm glad they still loved it and could acknowledge that Riker being confronted with his past and it messing with his head makes sense. Cosigning with their take that they shouldn't have sent Will off and replace him with Thomas. You'd get more love story with him and Troi but you'd lose all the other relationships that Will has built with everyone else on the cast. As far as the question of why doesn't Riker just accept a promotion, by that logic why didn't Beverly stay at Starfleet Medical or why doesn't Picard leave to become an admiral? It may sound corny (and the real reason is the actors aren't going to leave the show) but in-universe you aren't doing your job for money or power. You do it because that is what is fulfilling for you. Riker is loyal to his captain, crew, and ship. He isn't waiting for Picard to die or get promoted. He's content with being on the Enterprise. Okay, I'll turn off the violins now. lol. Thanks for the content and your thoughts, fellas! Keep up the good work! Engage!
