Episode is not bad. The judge was great, pretty much all the acting is great. It just feels too recycled from past Trek for me. Fully enjoyable, a solid C.

2025-06-11 23:27:34 +0000 UTCI'm surprised you were both leaning towards Jadzia being culpable. Think of this from the host's perspective, you get joined only to find out they stuck a criminal into your guts and now you're in legal jeopardy. From what the American legal system at least is meant to be, wouldn't protecting the innocent host be more important than punishing the guilty symbiote? I also think that saying the criminal would just "get away with it" by living long enough is inaccurate since the host has to die for it to work (since we find out that the host does have agency).

2025-06-11 18:30:29 +0000 UTCEasy S-Tier and superior to Measure of a Man in several aspects since both are 'hearings'. In 'Dax' both sides of the issue are presented equally to where you can begrudgingly agree with the antagonist, it was an episode that was not limited to just a a handful of characters as nearly all the main cast got a moment to shine and lastly the ending leaves in question the doubt concerning the Trill and the hosts when it comes to crimes committed in past lives. As opposed to Measure of the Man where Data basically tells Maddox to go ahead and continue the research to create 'disposable people'

2025-06-11 16:52:23 +0000 UTCWas tempted to give it a B but it really is bland and by the numbers. Perhaps on a first time watch through a bit better since you get more insight into the trill? Has zero rewatch value though.
