I completely agree. My view is the hosts are still sentient beings. Hosts who haven’t been joined are still responsible for their own actions.

I appreciate the alternate pov but the idea that a symbiont could plan to escape punishment by jumping to a new host is incredibly far fetched. The host would have to agree to die for the symbiont. The host would literally have to cut the symbiont out of themselves causing their own death. AND they'd have to have a new host and a doctor on hand to perform the joining procedure before the symbiont dies. ...And how would the new host body have any idea that the previous owner of a symbiont committed a capital crime? That wouldn't be fair. Like Curzon before outranking Sisko when Curzon was alive, Sisko outranks Jadzia because she had to start over as a cadet with a new rank and title because she is legally an entirely different person from Curzon.
