This was the first episode I felt in which the Ferengi, through Shimmerman's indelible performance, actually started to move away from the shitty history and into a rounded species.

This show is very character driven. The writers are really good at economically building backstories and establishing personalities as part of the stories without exposition dumps.
I love how annoyed O’brian is with both Quark and Bashir. If you’re irritating the nicest guy in the galaxy then you may be the problem.

Strong episode for the early stages of the series. Emotional, action oriented, some comic relief and the Chief... Couldn't ask for more at this point.

Michael "Mike" George Westmore (born 22 March 1938; age 87) was the makeup designer, makeup artist, and makeup supervisor on all of the Star Trek spin-offs set in the prime universe, and created the majority of species that first appeared in Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Star Trek: Voyager and Star Trek: Enterprise. He was also the makeup artist for the four Next Generation movies, Star Trek Generations, Star Trek: First Contact, Star Trek: Insurrection, and Star Trek Nemesis.
