A lot of Star Trek gets kind of shepherded in, even when highly mediocre, because it's part of a big mega franchise. There were a few aborted sci-fi attempts in the '90s that are pretty much forgotten... They just didn't have the depth of a franchise to feed them. Space Above and Beyond, Earth 2, Seaquest. And so on and so forth.

Wow that's amazing that that guy's an American. I had no idea. Hits the same way as when I found out Dr. House was British 😆

I love this episode. It finally shows some consequences with the Enterprise crew fucking around and leaving their problems behind.
When it comes to 90s serialized TV, the real OG in science fiction is Babylon 5, which debuted in 1994. While its acting and effects often don't hold up well (either to the various Star Trek shows airing at the same time), its story holds up extremely well and is heavily serialized from beginning to end. There was quite a rivalry between B5 and DS9 back in the day, but I'm in the camp of loving both.

Known for portrayed Niles the butler on the sitcom The Nanny, it always gets me that Daniel Davis, a guy who grew up in Arkansas until he graduated from college, has about the best English accent by an American actor. He says, "I grew up in the rural South in a very religious, fundamentalist atmosphere." An article states, "(He) grew impervious to the racial turmoil just outside... 'When I was in the 7th grade the National Guard bivouacked on my front lawn, but I ignored what was going on around me." His father ran a movie theater. It sounds like must have picked up his accent from watching lots of old movies.
You can hear his American accent in one of your favorite movies -- The Hunt for Red October, where wikipedia states that he was the commanding officer of the aircraft carrier -- USS Enterprise.
Stephanie Beacham who played Countess Regina Barthalomew previously starred with Edith Keeler actress Joan Collins on Dynasty and with Khan actor Ricardo Montalban on the Dynasty sequel series The Colbys. Yeah, she dated Marlon Brando and Eric Clapton and also Imran Khan who later became the Prime Minister of Pakistan. Born deaf in one ear, Beacham splits her time between homes in London, Malibu, Morocco and Spain.

"Although he does not mention Doctor Katherine Pulaski by name, Moriarty alludes to holding her hostage in 'Elementary, Dear Data'. This marks the final reference to the character."
I would have sworn that Dr. Pulaski's name was mentioned. Weird.

90’s TV includes the X-files. Primarily an episodic show but it also contained a few overarching plot lines that would occasionally be touched/referenced.
As far as other 90’s shows that were as good as TNG? Very very few. Some are popular thru nostalgia but very few are attracting new audiences 30 years later.

Regarding table reads, I recall hearing the how they decide how to pronounce an alien word is that whoever says it first at the table read said it right. So, my understanding is that table reads were common.

Picard entered in his command codes into Moriarity's "phishing" simulation and he isn't even a Nigerian Prince with an unpaid Lottery ticket
