PATRON TAKES - TNG S6E13

TAKES WILL BE READ 4/23

Comments

The only nice thing about this episode was the dog.

Marko

Definitely an episode always forget about, but it's still enjoyable, just not on par with other episodes... I rate this a "meh 🤷‍♂️"

Murtaugh

No chemistry, story isn't interesting, and wooden phoned-in acting.

Jovet

I never got "stalker vibes" from Geordi.

Jovet

Nah, it's a firm "D" .... errr, wait...

Jovet

I assume the writer(s) believe that the lonely nerdy romantically-isolated audience can connect and sympathize with a lonely, nerdy romantically-isolated guy.

Jovet

But better or worse than a Troi love episode??

Jovet

Bingo!

Jovet

I never remember what this one is about except that it's boring and as interesting and intriguing as random pot of cold spaghetti. The guest and Geordi had no chemistry, but I guess we got a hint at his "O" face. haha

Jovet

This is a bottom 5 or bottom 10 for me. It goes back to this trend of Geordi being a sort of pathetic, sad guy in terms of romance which the series had seemed to move past with Transfigurations and a few other episodes and then the rest of it is focused on this guest character that I really have a hard time caring much about.

Shane Coombs

Guest star could take acting lessons from Rachel Zegler.

Aaron Wells

They did my boy Geordi dirty man. I never really liked this episode and I always remember when I see it there’s something about the dog… bad Odo effect is what that is lol

Sixto

I just can't get into the acting performances. The guest actor nor Geordy seem to have any real connection. She just is flat and brings the whole eps down.

Prof Moff

OK but Geordi is kind of a lame character with a stank personality so

ShazD

Man where are we gonna put this stinker? I know! Maybe if we squeeze it right in to the middle of the season nobody will notice!

Mordock_Vapelord

I’ll always remember this one for the concept of two people being assigned to a floating can in space. Just too bad the execution fell flat. Oh look, Geordi’s questionable choices with women continues. D for “dog deserved better”

Column Meanie

This reminded me of the 1940s Noir murder mystery "Laura", and I liked this more than many of the episodes I've seen. There's a murder here, while in another episode this year the so-called hook was a guy is afraid of the transporter. I know which premise sounds more interesting to me. Its not great, but they tried at least to tell a little whodunit.

Ken R

I am wracking my brain trying to remember this episode, and coming up blank, which means it is bland, boring, which is honestly worse than awful, cause at least something like Captain's Holiday is memorable.

Thomas Cole

Kind of sad knowing that the dog died. The old Hollywood motif of generally not killing dogs, which has made it all the more intense when a dog does die (classic movie Shane or obviously John Wick). Also that is one creepy monster/alien, seeing as it doesnt just replicate the appearance of what it eats it also replicates their thoughts and brain patterns is so in a way it is the person it killed and now you gotta kill it again.

Greg Quinn

STOP WRITING SHITTY GEORDI EPISODES, HE DESERVES BETTER!

JStrong

I DO like the idea of the isolated lighthouse in space murder mystery, but I'm never sure if the execution failed it or just made it meh. Also, just a weird contrast for an evil, mindless shapshifter monster while DS9 is now on-going with Odo. It's like if TOS had a sister show with a Horta-esque main character.

Nolan

Obviously this one didn't gel. What I do like though is it shows how fragile the Federation Klingon alliance is. Even a D-tier episode is giving me a little crumb of political intrigue.

Loot Narsbaar

Blah. Boring filler.

tyranusfan

It’s been a while since we’ve had a “let’s dump on Geordi” love story. This one was a dud. D

Ron Hubbard Jr

Please! Stop doing Geordi dirty! IMO this SHOULD be an interesting mystery, but to me is so~ boring. Hey! It's a dog! Good boy!

Nathan Walker

Oh boy do I hate this. If you are going to do a classic trope, do it in an interesting way. And the guest star seems so flat to me

Jeffrey

Very bad love episode, With none other then Gordi La Forge.

DataL0re

Geordi really got screwed over by the writers when it came to the quality of his episodes.

Spencer Loften

One of the 5 most boring episodes in all of Trek. E.

John M.

Why do they write Geordi this way? Any episode involving "romance" with him makes me cringe.

David Clamage

Let’s face it, we were long overdue for a Ronald D Moore/Cliff Bole team up miss. When you’re on top, there’s nowhere to go but down. D tier episode but adjusted to E for dragging good talent down with it.

EnigmaticPenguin

I've watched this episode multiple times and I still forgot nearly everything about it. And I don't even have a dog! I think..... Wait, what's that weird sound? This episode was probably made just because the SFX guys really, really liked that DS9 Odo effect.

TinMan_7B9

When I first saw this I thought finally a character (even though not seen) had my first name. Didn't realize until watching it with you guys that the name was also used in Redemption part 2.

Keith S

How many magic sex objects does the bridge crew need to encounter before there's a ship wide PSA??

#MaxwellDidNothingWrong

Another episode I have zero memory of. I’ll be re(?)-discovering it along with Target Audience when I sync the uncut reaction.

Aramis Calcutt

A bit of a dud for me. It’s super bland and, that creature effect is an awful. Geordi can’t seem to catch break with love interest he always comes across badly.

Darren Seal

couldn't have said it better

Timothy Nikiforovs

They just can't help themselves with Geordi and the stalkler vibes. Boooorring. It's not Imaginary Friend or anything, but very skippable.

Timothy Nikiforovs

A lot of people don't like this one, but I always enjoyed it. I actually like the Aquiel character, because she's one more Starfleet officer that isn't perfect, just like Barclay or Ro Laren.. Is the main plot all that exciting? No.. but I still enjoy it a lot more than most people. High C Tier for me.

Andreas Schmitt

How not to write a murder mystery or a romance episode

Fedora The Explorar

D. An example where the sum is less than its parts - mixing in another Geordi failing love story with a monster mystery (with Cliff BOLE!), but somehow falls flat. Skip.

The Ninth Doctor

This episode is like The Thing but lame.

Evan Guthrie

Awful. They really wrote some terrible Geordi episodes.

Jon1701

It's hard for me to put my finger on exactly why I think this episode doesn't work. But it just doesn't. Also, RIP good doggy.

Steven Linden

"Hey, let's make an episode that's a murder mystery combined with elements from 'The Thing' and have Cliff Bole direct it! Guaranteed banger episode!" Fuck. No. How they managed to turn this into a "Geordi falls for an unavailable woman like a creep" episode that is objectively terrible with the flattest, most uninteresting guest star(s) and a boring Klingon is completely beyond me. Worst episode of the season by far, and at least top 5 worst episodes of ST:TNG.

Paul O'Neal

Terrible episode, really dumb waste of time
