UNCUT - The Blood of Heroes (1989)

Glad you liked it, for sure a deep cut. Rutger Hauer has many hidden gems, Fatherland, Split Second and Flesh+Blood come to mind.

I almost completely enjoyed the cinematography; I just wished there were more zoomed-out shots of the battlefield. The sense of it being a sport as opposed to a bunch of people kicking the shit out of each other might be gained by this. I never stopped saying wtf to the fact that they use a dog skull as an object towards victory. And the barbecue scene went from images of skinned and cooked dogs to frogs. Never thought I would see dogs and frogs like that in my life, but at least I picked up that imagery for my rhyming fascination

Unclecore is now my favorite movie genre 🤣

Bonafide 80's schlock. Moving out of the dadcore realm into some uncle-core classics. A step in the right direction, Bridge Crew.

Never seen this one before. My fav Rutger Hauer film is Blind Fury (1990). You guys should totally watch it, I think you will like it. :)

It's funny you should mention Jayne... because when I first saw this movie my friend and I had an argument about weather this was the actor from Full Metal Jacket that played Private Pyle (D'Onofrio) or Animal Mother (Adam Baldwin). It's one of the few times I've been wrong and she never let me forget it to this day. I love this movie. I can't believe it's only 20% on RT. Everyone I've ever shown this to likes it. And look at the cast... Joan Chen coming off The Last Emperor, Delroy Lindo and Vincent D'Onofrio just as they were getting known... and Rutger Hauer.

This was one of those gems my nerdy cinema buddies made me watch on VHS back int the day once they decided I was cooler than a Normie. They start out talking about all the famous genre movies first (YET AGAIN), then someone's brings it up and everyone's like, "Oh yeah, the Blood of Heroes!". And I'm like, "Umm... okay, let's do it." Immediately followed by "Circle of Iron" and "Dragonslayer", lol. I miss those days.

Can’t wait to get home and watch. This one is one of my favorite bad movies
