UNCUT - The Expanse Season 2 Episode 5

Comments

The timer was for how long until the Nauvoo hit Eros. Which of course, became irrelevant when Eros dodged. As for the finale feeling, yeah. This was the end of book 1. Book 2 starts next week and continues into about the middle of Season 3, and the last half of Season 3 covers book 3. After that you get one season per book, all the way through book 6 at the end of Season 6. I hope you stick around until at least the end of Season 3. (I mean, I hope the bridge crew has you continue to do reactions through at least Season 3, though I expect you guys will continue to watch it, even if you don't react for us.)

John

Forgot to add that you're going to have a lot of, 'Where can they possibly go from here?" Oh it's going to go, don't you worry! It's going to be hard to guess what's going to happen and that's just one of the many nice things about this show. The ride IS GOING to shock you from here to the end.

Shawn Anomaly

"What happens after this" Oh man...just like every other new Reactor you all have no idea what you're about to see! Will leave you with this, just when you have seen something insane...just know that the show IS GOING to outdo that moment in a future episode. You can bet on that!

Shawn Anomaly

Just remember how much Amos annoyed you at first and then how it changed. Think about that when the Mars characters come back.

TimTakDoh

If not, mutiny.

Paul

How rare a show is it where if someone says their favorite season is 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6, they're all perfectly understandable positions. There is no bad season or even just "good", all A tier minimum.

Paul

For me it's all a matter of like Season 1 being A Tier, Season 2 A+ Tier, 3&4 S Tier, 5 S+ Tier and 6 S Tier, atleast personally I just love the character journeys of 5

Jason Dokos

Also, for deep purple, listen to "knocking at your back door." Just don't think too hard about the lyrics 😆

Aaron Wells

For me it's season 3. It's not that the quality falls off after that... It's simply a matter of what type of awesome is most awesome to you as opposed to someone else. So much awesome in season 3 that I like, but I totally understand why people like awesome in other seasons more. It's extremely consistent throughout its run, quality wise.

Aaron Wells

"Have we witnessed the peak of the show?" Hahahahahaha...... I envy you guys for what is to come.

Ron

Oh nice. Yeah I’ll check it out

Josh (Target Audience)

Me sitting down to watch one of the few true mid-season finales in all of television: "Say the f#cking words, Josh...."

LoTeq

I love season 6 (as well as the rest) It's truly crazy how the quality maintained the whole way through.

Jason Dokos

And in my opinion, it's truly excellent through its entire run, all the way to the end. Plenty of shows dip towards the final season. Not here.

Paul

My personal peak season is season 5 because it's got so much built into it. IMO this show does build up much better than pretty much any other I've ever seen. Where there may be a "new season thing" but it feels organic in what's occurring.

Jason Dokos

I'm sure you have heard "Smoke on the Water" in some form or another. i suggest listening to the album "Machine Head". You will be glad you did.

Monty Crawford

My vote will ALWAYS be, on to next season. In case you were wondering.

Jason Lallathin

Oh no boys, nowhere near the peak. *gigles* keep watching. Do I hear a season 3 Bridge crew?

Jason Lallathin

I once "greyed out" when going down the hill of the millenium force which reaches 4.5g

Josh (Target Audience)

never listened to them before

Josh (Target Audience)

Just wondering...do you guys like the heavy metal band Deep Purple?

Monty Crawford

Yeah the first 5 episodes were very much wrapping up what they couldn't in S1. Now the next chapter(book) starts. The scene with Julie and Miller at the end always hits me in the feels. Both of them are very lost in their own ways, but Miller being willing to stay with her gave her the strength to steer Eros away from Earth, and helped him feel that he didn't completely let her down. It's just a really beautiful scene. And I get there's only so much they can do on TV, but juice or not, at 15-20g, their faces would be practically falling off. Even just pulling a few Gs in a plane can really distort your face

Timothy Nikiforovs

Get ready for an exciting ride! The show accelerates through the 3rd season. And 4-6 is great as well. Season 6 finale is very satisfying. Stuck the landing. Now let’s hope for books 7-9 to be adapted to Tv someday.

Richard Craig

Buckle up boys, this is just the beginning! There is a reason all Expanse fans spread the word every time we meet someone new. I’m an atheist minister of the Church of The Expanse.

Janel of Ganymede

Given the sheer intensity in 75% of this episode, the ending 10 minutes is very calm, almost serene. And yet you can't help but be on the edge of your seat, holding your breath even more than when the crew was battling 15Gs to stick to Eros. Where do they go from here indeed... ;) Also Alex, what's with the Dr Pepper betrayal, Coke?

Paul

Haha, you think this is the peak. Just wait LMAO!

Ricky

And no, this is NOT the peak. Its just going to get better. Stick with it...its an amazing ride.

Aaron Wells

It feels like a finale because it's the end of the first book. They couldn't fit it all into the first season of the TV adaptation.

Aaron Wells

I think they are hooked.

Monty Crawford

"What the caterpillar calls the end of the world, the master calls a butterfly." – Richard Bach This quote suggests that what looks like catastrophe or total destruction from one perspective can be transformation or evolution from another. • The caterpillar represents something (or someone) facing radical change or destruction. From its perspective, its existence is ending—there will be no more caterpillar. • The master represents a wiser or more powerful being who understands that this "end" is actually a transformation into something new—the caterpillar becomes a butterfly, something more. Earth’s leadership sees Eros’ collision course as an apocalyptic event, justifying an all-out nuclear strike. But from the protomolecule’s perspective, this might not be destruction but an evolution—something beyond human understanding. This is just one interpretation, but it highlights a recurring theme: crises can be moments of change, for better or worse, depending on who’s watching.

cbaoth

This episode is just incredible for all the reasons you mentioned - I can't wait for next week. This show is just amazing.

Darin Starr

This episode corresponds to the end of book one which should have been the end of season 1.

Michel Provost

I am really enjoying this ride with you guys. Tremendous episode... cannot wait for more👍

WabbitTrax

How good is that episode? Even though I had read the books I was still hoping miller would somehow escape

General Trelane

Glad you are so invested. This is the third time I have watched it and I am just as gripped as the first two times.

AzoriusMage

Why is it not likely?

Josh (Target Audience)

I would love that too!

ThorE

I know it’s not probably not likely but I’d love to see the guys make it through to the end of season 6. The season 5 finale is probably my favourite ever TV season finale, the series as a whole puts most big budget films to shame

Worf and Riker Ride Again

Tonight’s viewing sorted!

Worf and Riker Ride Again

This feels like a finale because it is the end of the first novel.

ThorE

Good stuff.
