And so this journey comes to an end. Watching these series through Mosco’s eyes has been nothing short of a wonderful experience, getting to see old theories come crashing down. Seeing reactions to plot twists and reveals, and seeing the boundless love and joy that this series puts out into the universe (pun intended) shine through in Mosco herself. Thank you, Mosco.

You can see from the very first episodes how he doubts and blames himself for everything and tries to help everyone through their hardships, while totally neglecting his own needs and thinking he needs to be what Rose Quartz was.

It's in episodes like when Amethyst and Steven fought and argued over who was the worst gem they were first playing a Lonely Blade video game, and in the introduction to Bismuth when Steven was showing her things he liked to do like playing cards and they watched Lonely Blade while eating pizza.

2025-09-26 14:51:37 +0000 UTCSteven universe is the reason I joined your patreon. I enjoyed watching you react to one of my favourite comfort shows and couldn’t wait to watch more. You’re also the reason I made a patreon account and first/only person I supported to watch Steven universe. I am so happy that you enjoyed watching it and that it meant a lot to you. When I first watched the finale when it came out, honestly, I was in a state of denial and shock. Like I just went through grief and I was just sad. It sounds silly, a show ending made you feel like someone that meant a lot to you died. The show, the characters and the songs did mean everything to me. Mind you it was several years ago the show officially ended. I’ve watched the show in its entirety a few times since then, crying and smiling all over again. Really special. I’m so lucky to be around for a spinoff, no one ever thought Steven universe could come back. Future did feel different because it was. Steven was different, older and had his past catch up to him and hit him in ways he didn’t expect, that’s how trauma goes. Though very different, I highly recommend adventure time. That was my favourite comfort show before Steven universe. Is a lot longer and takes maybe a season or two to get into and start getting good with the story and what not, but I think you might enjoy it. Actually I know you will. The creator of Steven universe, as well as song writer Rebecca Sugar, also helped write the story and songs for adventure time. She worked on that before writing her own show. So maybe that’ll impact your decision or not I’m not sure. It’s entirely up to you although I do understand that you need an audience as there’s not much point if no one watches. I hope to see you react to it someday in the future. Can’t wait until season 2 of hazbin comes out 🙂🙂🙂

2025-09-26 11:51:33 +0000 UTCI look at SU and SU Future as being reflections of each other in the sense that, like you outlined, while being named after him and entirely seen through his perspective (hence why we never saw ANYTHING if Steven wasn't present to see or hear about it), the original show was far more about the other gems and especially his mother than it was Steven. Future completely flips that and puts the focus on Steven at the expense of the other characters in the exact same way the original did at Steven's expense. All that trauma, the slow unraveling from Episode 1 to 19, just beautifully done imo. Future benefits from a second watch and easily rockets up the ladder of favorite seasons on that second watch once you know what you're in for and have no expectations for the past anymore, able to take it on its own terms.
