It has to do with Picard’s fate…
I’ll comment the details on the second part.

I have seen very few people comment about this on any of the videos. Is there some reason that it would constitute a spoiler? I can't think of why it would be.

Twin peaks was actually a few weeks earlier also with a huge cliffhanger. Also don’t forget who shot JR. This was a huge cliffhanger and at a time when they weren’t common but it didn’t create it.

Ronald D Moore has stated that this was the episode that propelled the show into the mainstream. It wasn't just Star Trek fans watching anymore, everyone was watching. It was also after this episode when people stopped referring to Next Gen as the Star Trek spin off. It was now Star Trek.

as they are handing out the weapons they said each phaser was tuned to different frequency and that they could get 1-2 shots each.

The giant crater reveal was supposed to have the viewers think back to the Romulans returning and outposts of both the Empire and the Federation having been scooped up.

Talking about Operation: Annihilate! and every episode of Star Trek is somebody's first episode...I THINK that was my first episode. I was so young it's hard to remember.
When I was 3 or 4 my mom used to come home from work and if I woke up, she'd let me stay up with her for a while because she hadn't seen me all day. Reruns of Star Trek TOS were on in syndication like at 11pm or at midnight and sometimes we'd watch it together.
I know my earliest memory was either Operation: Annihilate! or The Naked Time. I also remember being freaked out by those amoebas but wanting to come back for more.

You guys should share the direct link to watch it on youtube in your post. Then even if I've already seen it on patreon I can still easily hop over to youtube to give you a like there too.

I have a little commercial to share. Hopefully the guys will see this and hopefully react to it!
It is a British 1991 commercial that references TOS and TNG BUT it has no spoilers. I can't tell you anymore about it. Here is the link:

I hope you do a mini reaction to this 42 second commercial!

I’m biting my tongue about the behind-the-scenes about this two-parter.
Also, each phaser was set to its own setting, so if you notice, each person on the away team gets only one or two shots.

Imagine what we said back in June of 1990, watching it for the first time and having no idea it was a cliffhanger and then having to wait through the summer until late September to find out what happened. You two could find out tonight if you wanted to. LOL! ...in addition to the Dr. from Battlestar Galactica, actor George Murdock (Admiral Hanson) also played one of the "elders" conspirator in the TV show "The X-Files" and the first movie as well. Murdock's first role, ironically, was in a Twilight Zone episode "The Dummy" from 1962.

Totally get that you called Picard being assimilated but at that time when we watched this live, TV was so safe... we never would have anticipated he would be turned and because he was turned we didn't know if that was it for Picard.

After waiting months, I literally took the day off, 2nd shift, when part 2 premiered. I wasn’t taking any chances with the VCR screwing up.
