2025-07-04 05:04:45 +0000 UTCAs a trans person myself, yes, how the Diamonds and their Pearls act towards Steven is very analogous to the trans experience of misgendering and deadnaming. Which makes perfect sense, as before these final episodes aired, Rebecca Sugar had come out as nonbinary and used they/them and she/her pronouns. This also isn't the first time in the series that this kind of thing has popped up either. Even from Season 1 onwards, how Jasper reacts to Steven is very reminiscent of this scene. She immediately starts calling him "Rose" and shows disgust for him looking like that and not for looking like Rose. Can't wait until the Change Your Mind reaction

Some rumors even mentioned Blue would sing to Steven and Connie and she would help them break out. Let's not act like some of us dont skip this episode just to get to the Finale. Cut Mosco a break

It’s “familiar” Steven’s authority figures still see him as him mom Despite being one of them, they don’t see him as the same And he ends up being the mediator when things go south But, as Steven said “But this time I’ve had some practice at helping a struggling family”. He knows what he’s doing this time Tbh, not sure if it’s the mandella effect, but I could have sworn it showed parallels in the scene during the song. Like when that giant door opened, it then shows a scene from season 1 where Steven witnesses the temple door opening

It went out with a bang for sure I say that much (for now)

All the sci-fi "evil galaxy conquerers" being dropped immediately when they find out Steven is Pink, and switching straight to "older sisters glad their younger sister is back and acting like a family" is so funny. Also I LOVE Familiar, such a good song.

Makes me feel a bit better knowing the context, that this wasn't the intended pace. Still a bummer we didn't get this arc fully developed.

They knew exactly what they were doing when they drew this. 17:22 - I'd be worried that Garnet deliberately stressed that "STEVEN will be fine." 21:57 - Not that we'd have known at the time, but we did briefly see White's ship before in "The Trial" when Steven and Lars escaped in the palanquin. 23:03 - There are some fun edits where people put GLaDOS voice lines over White Diamond footage. While the voices are similar, White was voiced by Christine Ebersole, while GLaDOS was voiced by Ellen McLain. 28:45 - Ha, that's a pun. Because of her ship, she's literally inside her own head. 29:15 - It's the Uncanny Valley. Gems in general, and the Diamonds especially, look and act a lot like humans, but there are little things here and there that show how differently they think from humans and just how literally alien they are. 33:40 - Yeah, it pretty much is a trans allegory. 37:09 - The Pebbles are a reference to Cinderella's mice. Since they can turn their arms into tools and make things, one of the DVD special features refers to them as "the Bismice".

Something really cool to look into because like she said, Pinks legs are a larger part of the body and I think that is really cool when you know she’s the ID (representing want and instinct). There’s a really good YouTube video about it I remember watching but I can’t find it anymore

The crystal gems and Greg accepted him, listened to him and let him grow to be who he is, while Blue, Yellow and especially White didn't. I mean, they give Pink a colony just so they didn't have to hear her saying she want one again and again and the only reason she wanted one, was to feel closer to Yellow... But now, Steven have so much experience with "a strugling family" like he say in the song.
