I would argue that the first 10 episodes have spectacular pacing, but the final three feel like they could have easily been stronger as their own 10 episode season, but were compacted in the small episode order extension to ensure the author got to tell their full story without worrying about cancellation cutting them short. Though I also stand by that 'filler' has a place in a story, to endear us to the characters and show us what is important to them and how they connect. Excessive filler is an issue, but short bouts are needed to truly flesh out a shows cast of characters.

I was expecting Mosco to be a lot more upset about the deal. I keep forgetting she's the pragmatic one.

I love how well-paced this show is, there's really zero filler.
The Dido song that plays over the montage of Jentry's mom's life will always be the opening title theme to the show Roswell for me, which I loved as a teenager but really was kinda trash (especially after the first season).
If you want more from Ali Wong (Jentry's VA), check out Tuca & Bertie. Tons of queer characters (one of the titular characters is bi). It's mainly a slice of life about two 30-something women who are polar opposites but BFFs. Also has Emperor Belos' VA in the last season but in a very very different role.

Gugu chose to become a ghost to continue to protect and guide Jentry. For all her faults, she chose to eventually cease to exist in order to try to do right by the girl. That's heavy af.

If I heard correctly, the order was initially for 10 episodes, but then was increased by 3. The final 3 episodes feel like their own miniseries, or could have been stretched into a full season.
I do love that they took care with the Wheelers' adoption announcement. Not only congratulating them, but pointing out that they had troubles adopting. Despite fostering, despite working with children, this interracial gay couple in the heart of Texas were being denied adoption opportunities.
My local skating rink held lock-ins when I was a kid. It was either 10pm or 12am to 6am. I did that a couple times. Massive blisters from skating all night, but it was fun. I did okay in the races. Never won, but never last either. Final hour of the night would be a sock hop, where we could all ditch the skates early and dance. I think my highschool graduation was a lock-in too. But there were games, a mini casino, a jousting pit where you'd try to knock eachother over with giant boxing gloves, dancing, and a hypnotist was the entertainment that evening. It was actually a lot of fun. My friend Sadie won a microwave with her casino winnings. It was gonna be the first appliance in our restaurant. Dumb kids with a dream...

Remember, if Gugu's ghost is killed Gugu don't get to go to the afterlife or enter the cycle of reincarnation, her soul will just cease to exist.
