2025-07-03 05:09:40 +0000 UTCI don't think there was any hope for Navy but I think there was a possibility that a different Ruby could've fallen to Earth instead. She got Eyeball and Navy mixed up so I think she just didn't know which the Rubies would've been a friend. My best guess is Leggy.

She was poofed, trapped and interrogated in a mirror because she was mistaken as a crystal gem, then abandoned and cracked, then held by the crystal gems for thousands of years when she could have been healed by Rose and released. She got dragged back to Earth by force after she left, then was in a toxic fusion with jasper for months. She’s had much more unpleasant experiences with Earth and the crystal gems than Peridot or Navy, and then pretty much had to stay cause homeworld was not safe for her. Her still struggling is understandable, and so is her wanting to stop struggling.

2025-04-25 00:35:58 +0000 UTCYeah, I get that this is a first time watch and people are narratively primed to look for reasons for things, but the story has been pretty up front that Rose wanted Steven for Steven’s sake and it’s getting a bit frustrating that the shoe hasn’t dropped for her. Homeworld and every other gem in the universe thought all the gems on Earth were dead until Peridot showed up, Rose wasn’t fighting a war anymore.

2025-04-24 18:22:57 +0000 UTCI feel like Lion 4 was tailor-made to say no to overthinkers like Mosco (and me). Stop theorizing about destinies, there's no overarching plan, just a dream of creating a brand new person with a brand new experience. She doesn't act like a person who has a grand plan, she mostly wings everything in everything we've seen. As far as gem tech goes, I'm pretty sure it's implied that tech like the gem destabilizer and the force fields were created after the rebellion, hence why Lapis was so shocked when she got back, so there's no way Rose would have known about it. Plus, everything up until the marbles led the Crystal Gems to believe that they had won, that Homeworld had given up on colonizing Earth, and were never coming back. Rose would have no need of creating some anti-Homeworld-tech weapon. On another topic, I noticed a fun reference for the first time in the Room for Ruby episode. When Navy crash lands on Earth, her pose in the crater is a direct reference to dead Yamcha from DBZ! I completely missed that the first time I watched it.
