BSG executive producer Ronald Moore said the hangar deck accident was inspired by the 1967 USS Forrestal disaster, in which a Zuni rocket was accidentally fired from a jet on the carrier deck. The resulting massive explosions killed 134 sailors and seriously injured dozens more. Former Senator John McCain narrowly escaped death in the incident. 2024-06-23 13:02:36 +0000 UTCI guess this was the influence of Lost which was in its heydays the most consequential TV show of the 2000s. I wouldn't mind if Josh and Alex would react to it some day. I mean they watch GOT now despite its last season. So they can watch Lost despite its last season.

That scene between Adama and her is one of my favorites of the show. When I've gone back to watch again, it's often that scene drawing me back.
