I don't have much interest in BSG. I've tried a few times but could never get past the pilot episode. I do love Firefly, Buffy, The Walking Dead and Farscape though. To bad those didn't do better.

So happy to hear you are diving in, my son bought me the boxed set, knowing my love of Star Trek, Star Wars, Stargate and Mass Effect. set, just before he went off to university a few years ago. I have to say it took me several starts to get into it but now it has become a big love. I have re-watched several times and discover something new in each re-watch, it may sound a little quaint but the whole series just blossoms.

I quite enjoy Battlestar Galactica, but I haven't managed to get through it more than a couple times since it first came out. I'll elaborate more on this as we go. :) Glad that it's available on Amazon Prime, although probably with commercials, which will complicate things a little in synching up the recording. (I paid in an annual chunk for Amazon Prime, which included, among other things, Amazon Prime Video commercial free. They shouldn't be allowed to alter a contract like this, and I refuse to pay a fee for a service that shouldn't cost me any extra, after paying in advance for it and then having it revoked.) When my subscription expires, I'll have to find a new way to watch along.

Yeah, on rewatch I usually watch the TV movies in the 'correct' chronological placement (three if you count Blood & Chrome), but first time around they need to be watched in release order as they have elements written with hindsight and thus, in a way, spoilers. So, yes, release is key here.

This is very good news. That you're watching it before finishing the Berman-era Trek will lose you a little comparison with a certain other Trek show, which I always feel BSG was Ron D Moore's response to - taking the concept on a more realistic path.
Regardless of that... BSG is one of my fave shows, watched many times over, so I'm very excited to see how you guys respond to it as the show develops. Golden!

Gotta disagree. I've never seen an episode of DS9 in my life and never really watched much TNG and I can safely say I feel BSG is the best sci fi show I've seen other than TOS and perhaps select Twilight Zone. You don't need one to see the other.

I've never watched BSG and have no interest in doing so, but I think this is the next logical step to grow your channel, and I congratulate you on the decision. Be sure to listen out for the work of Bear McCreary, the revived BSG's composer; he's gone on to write the scores for Prime Video's controversial "Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power" series, which I hope you watch someday, equaling or possibly bettering Howard Shore's work on the same franchise.

I often find myself disagreeing with the mob. I think they're right, you SHOULD react to it. I just think it's the wrong time and excited fervor has clouded rationality. BSG is SUCH an extension of Trek to come, that invariably comparisons will be drawn, and envelopes Trek will eventually push will feel less remarkable in light of BSG pushing them further and faster.
Plus, I JUST finished watching two different people react to it, and another channel I follow just started S2... my DVDs are gonna get worn out.
