Yes, but you have to remember that the actual episode plots revolve around nothing being able to exist outside of the holodeck (as repeatedly stated by characters in those episodes). This is an example of the sort of writing that would plague TNG. Episodes where the logic is loose and therefore the tension and stakes never really hit home sufficiently. You can go along for the ride, but the story telling too often starts collapsing in on itself.

Crew members carry paper and other important clues/plot devices out of the holodeck. These episodes have plots that revolve entirely around the fact that no hologram can exit the holodeck.

Crew members bring objects off the holodeck (throughout the show's run), while dialogue repeatedly states nothing generated within can exist outside of it.

About three years later, Lawrence Tierney also played Elaine’s dad on Seinfeld, but he was written off the show as apparently Tierney was known to have a twisted sense of humor, and after he stole a knife from the set, things spiralled downhill from there.
