Great creepy moment when the Overlook Hotel lobby disappeared from behind you guys for an instant! :-) Also, did you know that Kubrick successfully concealed from Danny Lloyd that he was in a horror film? Lloyd believed for the whole shoot that the film was a drama and didn't see the movie until years later.

Hahaha I never watched Carson (before my time obviously) and actually learned about him because of this reference

I had absolutely no clue that "here's Johnny!" had anything to do with Johnny Carson lol

I'm probably in the minority but I really don't like this version. The Jack Torrence character is so different in the book for one. He has very little redeeming qualities in the movie as compared to the character's arc in the Stephen King's story.

Favorite part of the movie is all the room 237 stuff and the long shot following Danny into Jack's writing room. Then of course the lady in the bathtub. That whole sequence just revels in taking its time before it shocks you

The new series is off to a great start. I'm curious, Alex, have you seen the 1997 TV version? It's a 3 episode mini-series. Apparently Stephen King preferred it over the movie because it's more faithful to his book. If neither of you have seen it (I assume Josh hasn't seen it, being new-ish to the movie) that could be an interesting watch to compare and discuss. Then again, maybe another version wouldn't interest?
