Yes. The original NTSC standard had 525 lines of vertical resolution. This was the standard for around the first 30 years of broadcast television in the US and it was what the productions of the time were geared toward. There was a lot of room to hide things back then!

That's odd - there shouldn't be any extra scenes on the VHS that aren't in the HD versions made for Blu-Ray. I wonder if the digital version you're watching is one of the cut down versions from the syndication package. I've seen that happen in a couple TNG episodes where there's scenes missing on Amazon's version that are present on the DVD and Blu-Ray. What happens in the extra scene?

So far, it had an extra opening scene and I also can’t see anyone’s face if they are more than a few feet away. I can see how hiding stunt doubles was easier 😆
