"Maybe it was his plan to get caught." :P I will say this is another reason I didn't super like how Second Gear was introduced. It kind of established this precedent that Luffy could just pull something out of his ass whenever he needed it. But I do love what they did with Magellen. I'm always a fan of comic-relief characters turning out to actually be huge badasses, and One Piece does that a LOT.

Oda confirmed in an SBS that Magellan's Venom-Venom Fruit is a Paramecia, not a Logia, as Magellan can produce poison from his body and control it freely (and therefore he's inmune to poison himself) but he cannot transform his body Into poison like Logia Fruit users can... AKA Crocodile, Ace or Kuzan.
