I remembered this episode for the massive lore dump from Rayleigh, but I think the underlying message of embracing the journey over the destination didn't entirely hit me back then. Yeah, it really wouldn't be anywhere near as satisfying to just be given all the answers and it definitely feels like Oda was channeling that, at a time when the manga was already running pretty long. I feel a little bad too, because even though I've been careful with spoilers on these reactions, I have definitely dropped "expectation spoilers" when watching stuff with my friends, especially about things I'm hyperfixated about. It's something I'm trying to get better at.
