As someone else has said, the version of The News on Hulu is (for some reason) the earlier live-action version. This version was quickly replaced after only a few airings because no one but Ben Bocquelet (the show creator) and Richard Overall (Kip) liked it. So it was completely redone, with all the human characters being replaced by puppets, some scenes re-ordered, and a short extra intro scene featuring Gumball and Darwin being added at the start. And yes The Puppets was a massive crossover between Gumball and Don't Hug Me I'm Scared, with the creators of the latter producing the puppet world scenes and voicing Grady, Frank, and Howdy. Released alongside it was a YouTube miniseries called Waiting for Gumball set within the puppet world, with Gumball and Darwin getting up to shenanigans whilst exploring it, and some shorts with Grady, Frank and Howdy trying to entertain themselves as they wait for Gumball and Darwin to return (hence the name of the series) that act as a prequel to The Puppets.
