This Is by far Odas biggest L ... he really did our boy dirty, Sanji defiently drops off in this arc deep into the ocean depths of depravity in my opinion, wich is such a shame because hes by far one of the most fun fighters in the crew and his OST's are the best out of the strawhats for me personally... hes just soo badass how he usually comes in a clutch to save everyones ass in the most desprate of situations and completly fucking with the enemys brain on multiple levels... but here Its already such a cliche with the whole damsel in distress trope that is going on with nami, like the fact that Its Sanji's fight instead of hers is annoying enough for me. but then they seriously go with the "iM rEaLlY jEaLoUs Of YoUr PoWeR" bullshit and paint him like the biggest degenerate way that makes it really difficult for me to root for him. thriller bark is my favorite arc out of nostalgic and other silly reasons but I remember when I was a kid and watched this Episode I didnt really know what to make of It since It was really out of my reach at that time, then as a teenager I watched It with friends and pretended to find It funny just to not be a drag. but the older I got and rewatched the show the more infuriating It became to me! sorry for the random rant but Its just such in Bad faith to the actual character of Sanji, I much rather prefer to have more Nami or Robin thirst bait fanservice then Sanji being a freaking predator... (honestly both still suck pretty hard)

2025-07-14 19:09:13 +0000 UTCJapan is a completely different culture man, there this kind of jokes in tv shows are not that big of a deal, and it also has to do with the fact that Oda drew this stuff back in 2007-2008. Im not trying to make excuses for it, im just saying that this is just part of Sanji's character, Oda is not gonna stop writting him like this, so you either have to numb your sense of disgust towards it or just learn to accept it for what it is and laugh at it.

I kinda feel like it could have been spun in a way where him wanting to peek on woman was just a childhood fantasy that he grew out of because he recognized it was immature/inappropriate, that way they could kind of keep the joke without completely dragging him down.
