Oh yeah I put that together at the very end of the episode. Wasn’t thinking about it in the moment when the dude came back to life with Mud though. Can’t wait to see what happens with Jack when he gets fished out of there

Every time we saw that yellow/green flash, like after Jack shoots the Smiling Dead or when Joshua resurrects behind Mud in the security room, that's them coming back to life. If they killed Jack or any of the other people made aware of Mel, they'd just come back to life. Need to find a way to keep them from coming back, so even if they drown while cemented, they'd just come back still underwater and the cycle repeats.

See, Dante divided Hell into Nine Circles, with the final circle being Cocytus, a vast frozen lake where sinners are buried in the ice with only their faces exposed for all eternity. Cocytus was considered the worst fate any damned soul could endure, and it was reserved only for traitors. Which leads me to believe, that Ken used to work for the Virtues a long time ago and turned against them.
